Kerry: Weak on Economy, Weak on Defense, Weak on America

As the election moves closer, strict examination of the Democratic Candidate John Kerry and the Incumbent Republican President George W. Bush seems to be a media norm. What many Americans are not getting is the fair and balanced coverage that the media owes us during an election year. Often we hear the criticisms of an Administration that is continually attacked and called criminals and incompetents, yet John Kerry is built up to be the great savior of Democracy. Who are the candidates really, who is really in your best interest, which candidate should you vote for?

A closer look at Kerry we can see a voting record that mirrors the party he represents, ultra-liberal. Sen. Zell Miller (D. GA.) says of Kerry, “you can’t make a chicken swim and you can’t make John Kerry anything but an out-of-touch ultraliberal from Taxachussetts.” This couldn’t be any closer to the truth, Kerry in his Senate career has voted to raise taxes nearly 400 times, including the largest tax hike in history. If elected he looks to propose a new Medicare package to “fix” the “problem” with the system. Despite the pretty package and nicely tied bow, this bill is one big-government black hole. The package in its entirety would cost $900 billion. How would Kerry get this money? He claims that repealing the highest tax bracket of the Bush Tax Cuts will cover the package, what you aren’t told is that the revenue from that repeal would not even cover 1/3 of the package. The remaining 600 billion would have to come via an overall increase in taxes. Kerry has even gone as far as to propose a 50 cent gas tax, during a time in which oil commodities are trading at over $40.00 a barrel, the highest in history. He goes out of his way to claim we should not raise taxes during an economic downturn but then proposes such preposterous tax hikes. He claims he wants fiscal responsibility, then why all the taxes? He claims he stands for fiscal responsibility, then why vote against a balanced budget amendment 5 times?

The verdict is in, higher taxes under a Kerry Administration that promises, in a very empty fashion, to ensure American jobs that the Bush Administration apparently lost, or outsourced. Kerry is a hard line liberal, who loves to tax and spend. Need more proof? Kerry supported Boston’s Big Dig project, which to date has cost taxpayers over $14 billion. He was rated 7/100 by the National Taxpayers Union, 5/100 by Americans for Tax Reform and 5/100 by Citizens Against Government Waste in 2002, but also has a lifetime rating of 26% from the Citizens Against Government Waste

As Kerry pertains to job loss, or the lack thereof, Kerry has vowed to stop outsourcing American jobs. Granted outsourcing is a minute problem, a complete stoppage of outsourcing will most definitely kill many industries. Take for instance the automotive industry. Every Mercedes (a German based company) SUV is made in Mississippi production plants. What if they, or any of the Japanese automotive industries decided to stop outsourcing? What if all other countries stopped outsourcing? The end of a free-market economy would soon follow. Does Kerry really plan to stop outsourcing, of course not; it’s just an empty promise in a campaign of half-truths. In fact Kerry’s wife, Theresa Heinz-Kerry, the heiress to the Heinz Company is one of the largest source of outsourced jobs in America, having 63 of its 65 production plants outside of the country. Would Kerry really bankrupt his wife for the middle class he supposedly represents. Of course not! Kerry’s claims of middle class support are calmly shouted down to this middle class, who has seen the prosperity from every conservative president lift their standard of living. They are calmly shouted down from one of Kerry’s Multi-Million dollar homes. A man of the people, living like a man above the people.

In regards to National Defense, John Kerry can be summed up in three words: bad for America. Why? The American Security Council state that Kerry in comparison to all other Senators has one of the worst longstanding records with the association. Testimony from the House of Representatives states that Kerry was given a rating of ZERO out of 100, comparably speaking, Representative (at the time) Richard Cheney was given a rating of 100 along with Georgia Democrat Sam Nunn on their respective national defense voting records. Even worse William Fielder writes, “John Kerry offered an amendment in the Senate (No. 1452) that would have slashed an additional $4 billion from the national security appropriations bill, which had already been cut by $18 billion. His amendment would have reduced our defenses by $25 billion over 5 years, and would have sliced $1 billion from intelligence funding.

To put it all in perspective one must take a brief glance and the ultraliberal voting record of Kerry. Senator Zell Miller once again puts it best saying, “ They don’t know John Kerry’s record. They haven’t examined it. This is a very vulnerable candidate on several issues. I…think that he is very vulnerable on the issues of national security…[I]f you look at his voting record, it is terrible as far is come to national defense and helping fund a good intelligence unit.” John “ I was before it before I was against it” Kerry has a very troubling record indeed. Recently he skipped a vote that would send $25 million to troops fighting abroad but even more importantly he voted against an $87 billion supplemental that funds our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, which included body armor for troops on the front lines. In fact, Kerry has voted against almost every defense project proposed since the 80’s. If he had his way, no Aegis Crusers would have been built, fewer patriot missile systems, 50% less Tomahawk missiles, fewer Bradley Fighting Vehicles, fewer F-16 fighter jets, and only 20 Apache helicopters would have been built. What would the result be? Thousands of soldiers dead.

Would Kerry mind? Absolutely not, remember this is a man who fought in Vietnam only to return home and turn his back on his fellow soldier, testifying that they were war criminals. Of the men that served with Kerry in his company, 19 of them have publicly claimed they do not believe Kerry has the leadership qualities to be our Commander-In-Chief. This isn’t surprising when Bush leads Kerry in the polls by over 20% on Leadership
