What John Kerry's America would look like

What John Kerry's America will look like Ben Shapiro (archive)

July 14, 2004 This week, I began to think for the first time about what I would write if Sen. John Kerry were elected president in November. But then, I realized I should write that column now. What good would it do to awaken people to the dangers of a Kerry administration after that administration had been elected? Here, then, are a few predictions of what will transpire in the unlikely event that John Kerry becomes the most powerful man on Earth.

Major terrorist attacks will occur in the United States. John Kerry clearly does not recognize that the fight against terror must be pre-emptive: No amount of wheedling, cajoling or appeasement will convince Islamo-fascist terrorists not to murder Americans. Terrorists must simply face death or capture, but Kerry operates under an amorality designed by the United Nations and therefore feels that American pre-emption is not an option.

Little on Kerry's resume suggests that his views have changed radically since the 1970s, when he demanded that U.S. troops be sent around the world at the behest of the United Nations. Not only that: If Kerry has his way, the much-maligned but incredibly productive Patriot Act will fizzle, allowing terrorists to roam virtually unhindered throughout the United States.

Gay marriage will become a reality across the country. The chances of passing a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage before the election are slim. And with the radical gay-activist agenda moving full steam forward, it seems very likely that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) will soon be struck down by the courts, forcing states to accept gay marriages from other states.

Even if DOMA is left standing, though, liberal activists are willing to circumvent the law, as they have in San Francisco and New York. What would President John Kerry do to protect the sacred institution of marriage? Nothing. He opposes a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage -- and he was one of only 16 senators to oppose the Defense of Marriage Act, comparing advocates of DOMA to 1960s racists who opposed interracial marriage. Get ready for Mr. and Mr. Smith if Kerry is elected.

Your taxes will rise. If you're a government leech, vote for John Kerry. Otherwise, a vote for John Kerry means more out of your paycheck. Don't buy the Clintonesque political demagoguery that Kerry will sock it to the millionaires while leaving the rest of us untouched. Look at Kerry's Senate record instead.

If you're a member of the middle class, Kerry wants to raise your taxes. If you own stocks or a car, Kerry wants to raise your taxes. If you die or get married, Kerry wants to raise your taxes. Even if you use the Internet, Kerry might want to raise your taxes; he said in 2001 that online taxation would be needed in the near future. Kerry voted against the Bush tax cuts. Kerry has promised a tax increase of $700 billion -- and that's a low-end estimate. If he actually fulfills his campaign spending promises, make that estimate closer to $1.7 trillion. Don't be surprised if a Kerry administration transforms economic boom into stagnancy or even recession.

The military will be crippled -- again. Like Bill Clinton, Kerry purports to be a military supporter. And, yes, Kerry served his country with honor. But Kerry's actions upon his return to the United States and his efforts on behalf of the anti-military faction of American liberalism are inexcusable. During his tenure in the Senate, Kerry repeatedly voted to cut back the military; in 2003, Kerry voted against $87 billion to support troops in harm's way. He also campaigns for allowing open homosexuals into the military, a move that will surely undermine morale and morality in our armed services. Kerry insists that he will strengthen the military, but which John Kerry will show up? If Bill Clinton was any indicator of Democratic "strong" military policy, we're in real trouble.

These are only a taste of what a Kerry presidency would bring. A vastly liberal Supreme Court is not a probability but a virtual certainty. Abortion would be reinstated in the pantheon of leftist government-sponsored programs. Public education will revert to its previously unaccountable status. America's energy resources will not grow, and dependency on foreign oil will remain.

Trial lawyers will have a vocal advocate in the White House -- and when health-care costs go up because of unjustified lawsuits, government-run health care will be proposed as a solution. The legal immigration system will not only remain broken; it will be completely destroyed as Kerry encourages more benefits for "undocumented immigrants."

The America portrayed here will be John Kerry's "stronger America." I just pray we do not have to live in it.

I'm reminded of something from Rush Limbaugh's T.V. show after Clinton got elected. "Woodstock at the White House."

He forgot socialized medicine. That would be instituted asap. Hillary would be very vocal on that subject, along with taking away things 'for the common good.'

"Major terrorist attacks will occur in the United States."

I don't believe this. If Kerry or anyone like him wins, the Terrorists will have won as well. No need for them to continue terrorizing the US. They will be in bed with what ever liberal administration takes office....they can have their demands met without terror. The people in the Middle East who danced in the streets and the media here and abroad which celebrated along with them at the destruction on Sept. 11, will celebrate again with a conservative defeat.

"And, yes, Kerry served his country with honor."

Not so fast. I believe there are dissenting voices on that common media contention. Let's get the "Swift Boat Commanders Against Kerry" on "mainstream" broadcast channels to hear their side of this issue. But, that's just a dream...it'll never happen.

Kerry's mantra of "Stronger at home...respected by the world" means "security sanctioned by unions...kissing France's arse". Disgusting!

Terrorists don't discern different breeds of infidels. A Kerry presidency won't make the attacks stop; it will make them increase in frequency and scale.

You actually believe that the terrorists will stop hating us if Kerry wins? They will have even more reason to loath us as we will have shown the ultimate in weakness. The will become like the schoolyard bully, who all of a sudden obtains the protection of the school Principal - pick and choose...

"Major terrorist attacks will occur in the United States."

"I don't believe this. If Kerry or anyone like him wins, the Terrorists will have won as well. No need for them to continue terrorizing the US."

You need to wake the heck up my friend. The jihadists are remarkably uninterested in what you or I consider a "win". To them, there is only one "win" and thats the eradication of all "infidels" which is death to every American not a Wahabbist. They don't care who is in political power here in America. They only care about destroying America, the "management" is irrelevant to them.

"No need to terrorize the US" displays a lack of understanding thats of concern to me. We, by the definition of those that want to kill us all, are The Problem. We stand for, among other things, Freedom of Religion.

Note what the Taliban did on that score, and you will see what they want done here, and around the rest of the world.

There are by conservative estimates, 1 million who have been through the "Madrass" system which produces the jihadists. And they are still running today, everywhere, including this country.

You can't negotiate with a religious fundementalist. Theirs is the only way, all others must be destroyed, must be slaughtered according to the perversion of the bin Laden's of the world.

If nothing else, please remember this: They don't care who's in charge here, only that "here" is decimated by any means available. They want you dead. They want me dead. They want Democrats dead, they want Republicans dead. They want Libertarians dead. They want gays dead. They want straights dead. They want veterans dead. They want war protestors dead. They want teachers dead. They want doctors dead. They want your kids dead. They want my kids dead. They want everybody you know dead, they want everybody I know dead. They want everybody you will meet in your life dead, they want everybody I meet in my life dead. They want everybody you will pass today on our highways dead. They want everybody working in every building you pass dead.

They will never, ever stop. No matter what we do, you do, I do. They are counting on it, they are working towards that specific goal as I type this.

Wake up, my friend. They are coming.

And some of us are going to meet them head on before its all said and done. Your going to die eventually, of that we all are sure. Better to die standing up, leaning into it, fighting them toe to toe, than to lay down and let it happen with no opposition.

Sorry - Rant Off.....(grin)

I think the will always hate us, but I thing their tactics for getting what they want will change. Just a guess. Anyway, a vote for Kerry is a vote in favor of the terrorists. They all hate America just the same. I don't make any distinction between THEM.

This is why I'm telling people who support Kerry to enjoy their vote for him as President, because he'll likely be the last one we have. I don't think the nation as we know it will survive his administration. He'll come in and finish the demolition job that Clinton began.

John Kerry's America will be someplace I would not want to live.

Two choices: Move...or violence...or watch the soul of the country..and the Republic.. die.

What choice is there when the Supreme Court legislates from the bench and our lawyer "representatives" no longer represent us..

The system is impossible for the common man to navigate now. We would be totally lost if kerry is elected.

Our generation's "King of England" has become the block of lawyers that control the country for their own gain.

A tyrant is a tyrant, whether it be one man, or an oligarchy.... and the remedy must be the same as before; a small percentage of patriots fighting to save the Republic while the sheeple sleep.

Can anyone confirm or deny that Jean Kerry once mentioned something about giving the UN more control over our armed forces? I thought I had heard that somewhere... I'm suprised he didn't just name Kofi as Veep...

The goal for terrorists is for an America with Islam as the state religion. Until this is done, they will continue their terror attacks.

The only way to stop them is to destroy them, dhimmi.

This won't wash. Trying to defend the most big government president in recent history (Dubya) by trying to scare conservatives with the specter of Kerry does not hold water.
