Eyewitness News has learned Senator John Edwards will be in San Antonio late next week for a campaign stop.
Edwards, the Democratic nominee for vice president, will speak to a small group of people at a private fundraiser next Thursday or Friday.
It is unclear whether the North Carolina lawmaker will hold a rally in public during his visit.
Senator John Kerry will not be with Edwards. They are campaigning separately until the Democratic convention later this month.
Expectations are right on the mark.
Private-or public no matter---Edwards will speak to a small group of people even if he held a month long advertised public ralley in the Alamodome.
Bush will carry Texas at least 60-40.
Looks like it's this Friday!

Edwards Detoured to San Antonio
Plans to Return for Joint Event with Kerry in Late Summer
McAllen Responding to requests that both the Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates visit the Rio Grande Valley, the Kerry-Edwards campaign has rescheduled a visit planned by Senator John Edwards. The event originally scheduled for Thursday, July 15th has been postponed so that Senator John Kerry could make the Valley trip with his Vice Presidential candidate.
Edwards, who is now campaigning across the United States, will be detoured to San Antonio for a reception this Friday the 16th.
Hidalgo County Democratic Party Chairman Juan Maldonado was excited about the prospect of both Kerry-Edwards coming to the Valley. We know that having Senator Edwards in South Texas would have fired people up but the prospect of having both Kerry and Edwards down here is too good to pass up. We are looking forward to welcome our next President and Vice President to Hidalgo County before the end of the summer.

Edwards: "Your mouthwash just ain't cuttin' it!!"
Hey bro, I think the terrible twosome is gonna be out my way sometime soon, is what I hear... Maybe I should go buy me some flipflops for the occasion...
He wouldn't have the guts, or frankly the inclination, to campaign in Texas in public. There's no point. Freepers would outnumber supporters.
