I wrote this a couple weeks ago. Hope you find it interesting. I think it's important to know who we're fighting in this war against terrorism and that the Saudi's are really nothing close to an ally

"So we are unfortunately stuck in this hard place of having to fight terrorists in far away lands with no real end in sight."

What a terrible thought. I refuse to accept it, so consider this:

Even if Wahabististas were all exterminated overnight, a new babbatista pack would ooze from the nest within 24 hours. So what's the solution? Certainly not killing all islamists. But banishing them from civilized countries and putting them in quarantine for a few hundred years would give the world a breather and allow time for the 'lust for blood and virgins' gene to mutate into obscurity.

Who knows? Maybe they'll overcome their sexual repression and start treating their women folk properly.

The Cain Sanction will work.

The only thing that keeps islam going is the fact they are mobile and have their pick of infidels for their blood sacrifices. How long would islam last in isolation? Not long, I'm sure.

Your article also clearly indicates that not all Muslims are to be put in this category.

In fact, MOST Muslims are NOT Wahabi.

Freepers need to be more careful about making this kind of
distinction.

Thank you for the kind words, everyone. They are much appreciated! I'm currently working on a follow-up essay that continues where this one left off (I was rushed in writing this as it was due the next day for Hum-160 class). I'll definitely make sure to post it on this forum when it's ready.

The professor was definitely not a leftist and gave me a 99% on the paper (took a point off from some grammatical errors). He said he enjoyed the paper asked if he could keep a copy of the paper for himself ... I was very honored.

Interesting piece. I noticed you mentioned the Sufis. They are to Wahabiism as ant-matter is to matter. The term "whirling dervishes" is based on western adventurer's accounts of persian sufi dancers in a state of ecstasy.

Its to bad the ME and persia couldn't have latched on to a more sensible side of Islam. Instead they of have chosen the road of self-destruction with Wahabiism. This barbaric and ruthless sect of Islam is growing like wildfire. Given the educational level and cultural tenants of the Arab and Persian worlds, its not suprising that this sect thrives.

This is a wonderful posting. I hope kids in highschools and colleges are being given a realistic picture of the enemy. We have the technology and the fire power to destroy this part of the world. There is a legitmate argument that in the right to self-preservation the taking of life is acceptable. However, most rational human beings will try and avoid the senseless destruction of human life. Even the kamikazes had millitary targets and the were HVTs at that. the wahabis throw away their own lives in the pursuit of destroying innocent men, women and children. We have a ruthless enemy and the old proxim "know thy enemy" counts as much today as it ever has. Excellent post.

Freepers need to be more careful about making this kind of distinction.

Maybe we'll mull it over if/when we ever hear any "muslim outcry" over the radicals.

Hear anything?....So far the silence is deafening.

Viewing the acts of commemorating dead holy men and praying to saints as unholy acts, the Wahhabists destroyed monuments and gravesites in the holy cities.

What are their thoughts on the Kabba stone/monument in Mecca?
