Sunday, July 18, 2004 12:50 a.m. EDT Newsweek Big: Media Bias Worth 15-Points for Kerry-Edwards

The American press has dived so deeply into the tank for Sen. John Kerry's presidential bid that they don't even bother concealing their pro-Democrat bias anymore.

"Let’s talk a little media bias here," Newsweek's assistant managing editor Evan Thomas told PBS's "Inside Washington" last week, reports Sunday's New York Post.

"The media, I think, wants Kerry to win. And I think they’re going to portray Kerry and Edwards - I’m talking about the establishment media, not Fox, but - they’re going to portray Kerry and Edwards as being young and dynamic and optimistic and all, there’s going to be this glow about them that some, is going to be worth, collectively, the two of them, that’s going to be worth maybe 15 points.” Newsweek's July 19 issue, "certainly backs up Thomas’ contention," notes the Media Research Center, which first uncovered the amazing admission. "Over a smiling picture on the cover of Kerry and Edwards, Newsweek ever hopefully asks: 'The Sunshine Boys?'”

If Kerry loses the election, but finds his heart's one true love in Edwards, wouldn't it all be worth it in the end?

Please, no 'pat' answers, and don't 'squeeze' me outta this thread, and hey, don't 'kiss' me off neither, and don't you goint tell me to 'butt' out, or 'bend over and take it', and if you're saying I've a 'head' for politics, I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT!

So either the voters will have to believe their own eyes or the media!

Kerry is old.

I recommend a permanent vacation.

Election defeat, including ejection from the Senate, is just what the doctor has prescribed, although not on purpose.

Dr. Zawahiri, that is.

Until the issue of liberal media bias and dominance is addressed and neutralized, we will always be starting fifteen points down in every election and issue, more in media heavy states like NY, CA and IL.

This is why I don't understand how come more conservative orgs don't target this topic as enemy number one. Eliminating that 15% opening gate lead would do more to get conservatives elected than all other efforts combined.

No, it means that all things being equal (i.e., the press doesn't play favorites between the candidates) Bush would be 15 points ahead of Querry. As it is, the press is providing the Kerry campaign with free and favorable campaign advertisement. Why do you think Querry never shows his face? When he does his poll numbers sink, so he hides and let's the press paint a pretty picture of him.

I think it means he would be were it not for the partisan press.

'"Let’s talk a little media bias here," Newsweek's assistant managing editor Evan Thomas told PBS's "Inside Washington" . . ."The media, I think, wants Kerry to win. . . . that’s going to be worth maybe 15 points.”'

So at what point are these various media outlets considered to be violating CFR for not registering as a 527?

The media is more of a help for Republicans because of the saying that you should keep your enemies close. The Democrats are completely fooled by the media's sucking up to them. The media is always warning the Republicans about how conservative speakers should keep a low profile at the convention. And the Dems trot out people like Al Sharpton without a word of warning from the media. From what I've seen here in Michigan, Bush has a lot more support this time from conservative and moderate Democrats who didn't vote for him last time. All this talk of hate for Bush is nonsense. This election will be a big win for Bush and the Republicans.

I also believe that there are benefits to a liberally biased media. One of them being this- conservative ideas recieve a great deal of scrutiny and criticism. Consequently any flaws or weaknesses in the reasoning are exposed and eliminated.

Liberal ideas get a free pass. Any level of insanity, stupidity, absurdity- gets simply ignored.

Look at the morons who speak up for liberal values. Jesse Jackson, Donna Brazille, Barbara Boxer, Micheal Moore, Sean Penn, Alek Baldwin, Al Gore, Bill Clinton, Helen Thomas, Phil Donahue... all of these repulsive idiots who would never be allowed to speak for our side. Let them have their liberal media.

We own the House, White House, Senate, and a majority of state houses and governorships. How effective is their cheating?

Think of it this way- if you could change the liberal bias in the media to an equivalent conservative bias, would you? I wouldn't.

It would be great however if the news would just report and let us decide. Not just factual presentation of what they report but also fair selection of topics to report on. But I'm just dreaming.

I certainly would, for a period of about 10-15 years. It would be payback for their 40 to 50 years of extreme liberal bias and the damage it has cost us as a nation.

Agreed! Actually I've got this theory that the ONLY reason liberals have ANY power is because of the liberal press/media. When average people actually find out what liberals really are, they reject them.

Well .. Kerry may have to fight TA-RAY-SA for Edwards; she said she thinks "Edwards is beautiful".

A three-some maybe ..?? I know that's crude .. sorry!

and for an encore we can crush the 25% + voter fraud in which the Democrats engage. That 40% shift should give the mandate numbers that are truly reflective of the American population.

Agreed, vote Fraud should also be in the top five list. For some reason methinks the GOP doesn't jump on this because they are afraid some bodies of their own may be dredged up...
