Questions?Tell a lie, tell it big and tell it oftenby Roger Wm. HughesTell a lie, tell it big, and tell it often Herman Goebbels, Hitlers propagandist Senator John Edwards and the Kerry campaign continue to use Sen. John Kerrys Vietnam service as the gold standard for trusting Kerry to be Commander in Chief. This is because in time of war no other question is more important in the election for President in 2004. Edwards offers in a much-repeated ad in battleground states with the statement, "there is no one better prepared than Senator John Kerry to keep America safe." He further goes on to say that if we have any questions we just need to spend "three minutes" with those veterans that Kerry served with in Vietnam. Now, in defense of the lawyer, Edwards offers a lawyer-like covenant that implies that we should only talk with those veterans who still stand by Kerry today -- instead of saying the swift boat veterans picture that Kerry used in his band of brothers ad earlier in his campaign. With the repeated fact that only two of the 19 individuals shown in that band of brothers veterans picture by Kerry actually support his campaign for the presidency, why is Kerry continuing with this argument? After all, 11 of the 19 wrote a letter stating that Kerry is unfit to be Commander in Chief. Clearly, the question that boggles the mind of anyone who is paying attention is: Why does Kerry keep alluding to his Vietnam credentials? Anyone who spends time visiting Vietnam veterans websites will soon find out that Sen. John Kerry is not only disliked but is emphatically despised by his brethren and for good reasons: · There is the fact that Kerry lied in 1971 to Congress about war atrocities committed by his brethren. · There is the fact that Kerry is recognized in the North Vietnamese War Museum as one of their heroes for helping them defeat the USA and win the war for the Communists. · There is the fact that Kerry has voted against more than a dozen of the key weapons that are critical to our nations defense. · There is the fact Kerry voted to go to war and then voted against the $87 billion to fund it. (Oh thats right, he "first voted for it before he voted against it.") Given the damning evidence of Kerrys lousy past support of our nations defense and the anger and contempt that Vietnam veterans hold towards him, why is Kerry trying this gambit? Because the media is not talking about any of the damning evidence and if Kerry or his surrogate, Edwards -- keeps telling his story then people will believe him rather than the facts. |

Mr. Hughes missed an extremely important bullet point in his list of reasons for veterans hating Kerry.
Mainly, this (from that intractable organ of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy known as the Village Voice):

I suppose Hermann was Dr. Josef Goebbels' younger brother? Sheesh. Or is he an admixture of Goebbels and Hermann Goering?
Does anyone have a picture or a copy of the statement of (dis)honor from the North Vietnamese Museum citing Kerry?
Seems that should be circulated.

Here is a reference: Kerry Honored by Vietnamese Communists
Hope this helps! Send it far and wide!

Eff'n and tort boy have used it to perfection.
Good stuff... thanks.
Kerrys Commander stated that when papers went in for John Kerry to get his Silver Star he had two choices, Coutr-martial him or Give him the medal , Obviously the guy made a serious mistake.
To which, I replied, "I respectfully ask, how would you know if it's bullsh__? The media does not cover it. Kerry IS honored in the Communist Vietnam Museum as their war hero. A photographer went there last month and photographed it in detail. The media won't touch the story. Kerry did willfully show a picture of his swiftboat vets of which only 2 of the 19 pictured actually support him. Eleven of these men are now SUING Kerry for doing so and have signed a letter declaring him UNFIT to serve as Commander in Chief. The list goes on.... You do not know the facts. This is not bullshit. If you are about reporting the news, check into this.
Folks, this is our wonderful national media. Ain't they sumpthing?!!
I suppose that Georgetown.com editorial staffer will sling another nasty email back at me. Not bother to see if there is merit to anything I wrote.
This absolutely boggles by mind. His liberal base was against the war all along, and supporters of the war also know of his anti-war antics after he returned home. I don't see where harping on his "vietman service" will help him.
And if I understood Mc Affull, the dems are going to structure their convention around Kerry's "vietman service".. Go figure, and Go GW
On Google, Josef gets 9,370 hits while Joseph gets 50,500, including some in German. In fact, combined with the German word Biographie, Joseph gets 2,120 vs 272 for Josef. I'm going with Joseph.
I'm somewhat surprised to find such an article in the "Village Voice", however.
I've always considered that paper to be very far left..
Thanks,
I have e-mailed it to my list.
I would go with Josef, since the -ph sound is English, not German. The Herman comes from Goering. I used to get those 2 guys mixed up.
I don't think Kerry is going to get any traction from the Vietnam Vet thing. It is poison to liberals. They really have to contort themselves, and that is why Nader is so attractive, in my opinion. The playup of the service record is guaranteed to backfire on Kerry. I don't really think that parsing words and couching terminology is going to help much. In fact, I think that if the McAuliffe is going to shine the spotlight on Kerry's war record, he is doing it as a self-defense measure, since he knows he'll be unemployed come December when Kerry takes over. Look for Kerry to lose big, and the DNC cronies will be pointing the finger at everyone but themselves.
Every little bit helps!

It -is- exceedingly far left, and it -is- a surprise that it's in there. At this point, I'm torn between believing that it's credible precisely because the proof must be pretty overwhelming (and what the article presents, if true, -is- pretty overwhelming) to get them to run against their typical bias, or believing it -isn't- credible precisely because they usually aren't.

"we just need to spend "three minutes" with those veterans that Kerry served with in Vietnam. "
that would be one minute more than kerry served with them, if i am not mistaken.
