Sandy Socks Bergler and Sock-Gate [Drudge, Newsmax, and my own thoguhts]

Posted on 07/21/2004 2:04:32 AM PDT by Arthur Wildfire! March

According to Newsmax, Sandy Berglar was seen by witnesses stuffing documents in his socks:

Newsmax on Sock-Gate

...Reports CNN's Bob Franken: "Three law enforcement sources talking to CNN's Justice Department correspondent Kelli Arena [say] they saw him, or that he had been seen, putting documents in his socks." ... [snip]

We need to throw the book at Sandy "Socks" Bergler. Can we be sure it's all just 9-11-01 related? What about Chinagate? Documents are missing. How many documents have been checked? Have the returned papers been examined to notice foot fungus or sock fibers? [I'm serious. Hiding documents in one's pants is bad enough. Hiding them in your socks is much more compelling to a jury. These papers need to be checked for foot fungus, sock fibers, leg hairs, dead skin, etc.] Has anyone sniffed the papers yet? Are they being contained in plastic evidence bags? Are they being checked for fingerprints? [Others may have handled these missing papers.] Are they being checked for foot prints? Is there any place outside Bergler's house where he frequently handles papers?

I'm trying to be serious, but on Drudge, Clinton is said to be laughing about "Sock-gate":

Drudge on Clinton's reaction to Sock-Gate.

..."We were all laughing about it," Clinton said about the investigation into Sandy Berger... [snip]

Rush has been on a roll even prior to this. I heard his show on tape, and part of it a second time! But I think Sock-gate has a better ring to it.

WABC`s John Batchelor`s regular guest,John Loftus has just reported this evening(July 20) that the documents stolen by Berger would have revealed that bill clinton and the clinton administration hired al-qaeda terrorists to fight for the muslims in Kosovo.

Loftus stated the clinton administration provided documents and facilitated travel for the al-qaeda terrorists from Afghanistan to Kosovo to help the islamists fighting for a foothold back into Europe.

When I works, I works hard...
When I hang loose, I hangs loose...
When I thinks... I fall asleep...

( By way of explanation, we used to sell a wall plaque with that slogan; in reality, thinking too hard makes my head hurt... )

Honestly? Under normal circumstances- or if the SandBurglar were, say, Condi Rice- I'd expect a 24 hour a day, seven days a week hue & cry from the Jackal Pack Media... but we've been down this New Revelation Road with the Clintons and their tribe of enablers so many times before, I don't want to get my hopes up.

Normally, a story like this would be incredibly damaging.

Of course Clinton's laughing. In all honesty, and complete cynicism, nothing will come of this. That's one way of looking at this. The other is that Clinton is laughing because one of his minions has just announced Berger's upcoming "suicide".

When I saw the very first post on FR about this, I thought something had happened to Socks the cat. I was greatly relieved to find that it was just another crooked Clinton goon getting caught redhanded.

Whether this story resonates with the media is immaterial, this story will resonate with the American Public. Their comfort quotient about Kerry/Berger/Clinton and Terrorism will be signifcantly up-ended, imo. V's wife.

Hello, v's wife...

I suspect you are right. Public opinion, and perception, is based a lot on whether the public likes or dislikes the subject, and the Berglar has a rather disagreeable screen presence. When you couple that with the Keystone Kop-like elements, and memorable taglines like "sockgate," you have a mixture that is likely to stick, in an unfavorable way, to the public's mind.

This silly-yet-sordid tale will certainly be damaging.

A lot of people think Berger did it to protect Clinton's legacy, but I think it goes way beyond that. We know Clinton/Gore did all they could to help China upgrade its military and that 'rats have been faithfully carrying the Kremlin & Company's water for 70 years. Now we have Berger running around JUST LIKE a KGB mole would, removing top secret documents from the National Archives. I mean, for crying out loud, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck!

There's an article in the NYP today that pretty much confirmed for me, that since the FBI specifically set up a "sting" to catch berger, that the inevitably have video. If it hasn't been "handled" by Clinton FBI "sleepers", it may eventually come to light...

I think we all need to cool down a bit on this. This guy should know how to handle classified material and he didn't, but we all knew that the Clinton Adm. was sloppy and downright negligent with Nat'l Sec. But, I am telling everyone again, this is going to be a net gain for Kerry if all this turns out to be is just negligence. This can be spun so many ways by the Left and it has already started. If he was stuffing documents in his socks that looks bad, but we don't know for sure if any of this happened. If the stuff he took was one of a kind and no copies existed anywhere else, that looks bad. Lastly, if Kerry sited some classified info from a document that is now missing and was one of a kind, that looks horrible. But the conspiracy theories that have been abounding around here are getting out of control. Everyone needs to reign it in because until better evidence is released, I am afraid we are making the lemming leap just like the Democrat's did with Joe Wilson

Where are those ever-indignant Jersey Girls on this? They should be whining about Berger if indeed they were not politically driven!

****

By the way, I just read this on another thread:

(From a listener) WABC`s John Batchelor`s regular guest,John Loftus has just reported this evening(July 20) that the documents stolen by Berger would have revealed that Bill Clinton and the Clinton administration hired Al-Qaeda terrorists to fight for the muslims in Kosovo.

"We were all laughing about it," Clinton said about the investigation into Sandy Berger...

Of course you were, Beezelbubba. You and Her Heinous got another one of your dupes to take it in the posterior.

On the the other hand, what is in the other hand? We've learned through the years that there's always something else going on that the seemingly big Klintoon story is hiding. Can be it simple enough that this absurd escapade of a former National Security Advisor cramming copies of classified documents into his socks is to forever associate the subject of the documents with this buffoonery and thereby render it unworthy of serious consideration?
