[Governor] Huckabee Criticizes Kerry at Gun Shooting Range
KATV ^ | July 21, 2004

Lonoke (AP) - Governor Huckabee and Republican sportsmen took aim at the Democratic presidential ticket Wednesday. Huckabee says hunters should be up in arms over what the governor says is the threat that a John Kerry (website/newsbio) presidency would pose to gun rights.

Speaking at a gun club shooting range run by the Remington Arms company, Huckabee criticized Kerry's comments that the Second Amendment right to bear arms should stop with state militia and should not extend to individuals. The governor also cautioned Southerners not to be fooled by North Carolina Senator John Edwards as Kerry's running mate. The governor says Edwards will try to portray himself as a fellow Southerner when he does not hunt, fish, like NASCAR racing or country music.

The governor also had some gag gifts for the presumptive Democratic nominees for when they come to Arkansas, including a NASCAR cap in camouflage, a toy shotgun, a Lynard Skynard CD, a membership application to the National Rifle Association and a beginner's rod and reel. The governor was joking with these items, but said he would take Edwards fishing if the likely Vice Presidential nominee said he would accept the invitation.

What a dork. His weapons handling is sKerry. I propose a SASS competition in The SASS National in Gatlinburg, TN between sLerry an The President.

Real simple. Two Ruger Vaquero Bisleys (38spl/.357), one Marlin lever action (same caliber as the Rugers), and a Stoeger Coach 12 ga.

Let the games begin.

I'd bet ole 'Tex W Bush' would wessp the event against the Girlie Boy New England snot nosed bastard from Taxachussetts.

Nice. A box of .30-30 should be there too.

Not sure about that. Kerry's holding his Mamma's 12 ga o/u in one shot and a s/b/s in another. Now if I could get in touch with a col. friend of mine in his ghuilli with his .308... then we'd make some progress. Nevermind.

The .30-30 reference is because Kerry voted to ban it.

Kerry's comments that the Second Amendment right to bear arms should stop with state militia and should not extend to individuals.

What a twit -- who the hell does he think the Militia are?

Unless he's got a different idea.......like maybe enrolling only Red Guards trolls in the Militia. That's the stunt that Illinois pulled in the 1880's, limiting Militia enrollment to 8600 men (unconstitutionally).

You're shi'iteing me. My 30-30 is a Winchester Model 55 from my great-grandfather. He hunted deer in Bucks County, PA for years. This frirearm is an antique... an heirloom. And Kerry wants to outlaw this firearm? Now, I'm really pissed off. I'm getting sick and tired of these bastards. I just built a new house, and a portion of it is encased in 10" thick steel reinforced concrete with a 3-0 opening. I'm going to turn this into a gun vault. A call to Moss (safe company) or Browning should take care of the door. I've got a huge investment in my family's firearms, as well as my SASS Western rigs and ordnance.

I am not joking about Kerry voting to ban the .30-30. In fact, that was this year in that package of gun bills. Ted Kennedy wrote the bill.

One thread on it

Another thread on it

Ted Kennedy - In a recent report, the ATF identified three, .223 and the 7.62 caliber rifles, as the ones most frequently encountered by police officers. These high-capacity rifles, the ATF wrote, pose an enhanced threat to law enforcement, in part because of their ability to expel particles at velocities that are capable of penetrating the type of soft body armor typically worn by law enforcement officers.

Another rifle caliber, the 30.30 caliber, was responsible for penetrating three officers' armor and killing them in 1993, 1996, and 2002. This ammunition is also capable of puncturing light-armored vehicles, ballistic or armored glass, armored limousines, even a 600-pound safe with 600 pounds of safe armor plating.

Funny, the .30-30 ban didn't get mentioned in the screed Howard Metzenbaum just published in the Houston Chronicle boo-hooing the September sunset on Klintoon's "assault weapons" ban. He talked all about how that bad Tom DeLay stepped on the bill and it went nowhere.......he kinda didn't mention that the "reauthorization" would have basically made every autoloader in the country illegal and put the firearms industry out of business.

That was Howard as in "Let's Dump Clarence Thomas's Business on the Street and Hand Anita Hill a Megaphone" Metzenbaum, the guy who violated Senate rules and told his staffers to give all of Anita Hill's wild-ass BS to a liberal punk "journalist" from Long Island Newsday, to kick off Justice Thomas's burning-at-the-stake before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Yeah, ol' Howard didn't mention in his Chronicle screed that, oh, by the way, this worthy bill was written by Ted Kennedy (OK, OK, so it was written by his staff while he was sleeping it off -- get technical with me, will ya!) and happens to ban .30-30 rifles.......yeah, that'd get him a really solid reception in Texas.

Huckabee is a former Baptist minister. I heard him preach at Adrian Rogers' Bellevue Baptist during his recovery time from surgery. Great sermon.
