"How can the federal government override your deathbed wishes of who inherits your estate?"

I thought that the left opposed inheritance anyway. "Property is theft" and "the rich just get richer".

How does "Till death do us part" apply to Miss Etheridge? This is her second "marriage," after all.

Sell them to them for $1. End of story. (Or do they not expect to 'stay together', and want these rights back after the breakup??)

Tell Etheridge to take out a nice fat insurance policy so Tammy can cry in a bag of money.

"It doesn't always end up that you're friendly with your children, for a lot of reasons. It's distressing that my wishes may not be carried out."

Call me kooky, but could one of those "lot of reasons" be that you went Benedict Arnold with your sexuality after having twin sons?

Child believes that this is not a gay issue, but a basic human rights issue.

A-ha, we finally get to the real issue--passing on copyright protection to whomever you stipulate in your will, not necessarily the person you penetrate with your penis.

Even though Massachusetts now sanctions same-sex marriages and Vermont recognizes gay marriages as full civil unions,

I rest my case about civil unions being the same thing as marriage. The pro-gay crowd KNOWS it is. It's only the weak, naive, and gutless who are fooled by the word change.

Who is Melissa trying to kid? This new "relationship" of hers won't last past Bush's second term. She's just using this so-called issue to knife the Republicans. I swear these people plot their evil 24/7.

The whole story is based on a lie---that you can’t pass on copyrights by will:

http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ1.html

TRANSFER OF COPYRIGHT

A copyright may also be conveyed by operation of law and may be bequeathed by will or pass as personal property by the applicable laws of intestate succession.

I'm not surprised to learn that the Aerosmith hit Desmond Child wrote was "Dude Looks Like a Lady".

Gay's should have looked into this benefits thing a little closer before they started demanding marriage rights.

In most gay arrangements both of them work. Although the cost of insurance has dramatically risen in recent years, employers usually pay the lions share of single person insurance and the worker picks up the tab on family rates.
It is cheaper to carry individual insurance.

The Bush administration temporarily got rid of the marriage penalty tax, along with the death tax when tax rates were rolled back. Without an act of congress , these are slated to expire. Married people pay an effective higher tax rate.

Singles have an individual baseline deduction and then have the option to itemize. Married couples have the single deduction and then a lesser amount for the lesser paid individual. Not only this but filing joint taxes when both individuals are employed will put them in a higher tax bracket and their combined taxes will be higher than if they filed individually.

2 single individuals can collect their own social security. With married couples, the lesser paid spouse collects a fraction of the higher paid employee. Social security was set up at a time when most wives didn't work outside the home and had no income.

I have been tossing this around in my mind all afternoon, and made an interesting conclusion. The law doesn't discriminate at all. If it bars gays from contractually transferring ownership to a partner, it also bars anyone of any persuasion from transferring ownership.

Is there some clause that says gays can't transfer ownership, but straights can?

Currently, all rights to reclaim his copyrights would go not to Child's partner, but to his twin sons. "

I got confused reading this. "Child" is the song writer's last name. I was reading "Child's" as "child's".

Homosexual Agenda/Jihad Ping - More cruelty and inhumane treatment of "gays". More rights needed, more equality, more acceptance.

Of what?

Sexual deviance masquerading as normalcy. Emotional dysfunction pretending to be mental health. Sin whitewashing itself as virtue. Sickness and disease dressed up as "love".

Let me know if anyone wants on/off this [busy] pinglist.

"It seems that light is being shed on the hundreds of rights that are being denied same-sex couples," says Etheridge. "My hope is that the American voters will see this discrimination and change it in the future. Until then . . . it sucks."

If Melissa could get over her sexual deviation, and then go out and find herself a good man, many of her problems will be resolved.

"How can the federal government override your deathbed wishes of who inherits your estate? The copyrights and your house are your major assets, and you're depending on them to take care of your family when you are gone."

I agree. The inheritance tax is distilled evil.
