Kerry to symbolize the aid and comfort he gave Vietnam's "revolutionary Communists" with his high profile participation in Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW) demonstrations. As a key VVAW leader, organizer and spokesman, Kerry marched in demonstrations where there was a clear presence and "abundance of Vietcong flags, clenched fists raised in the air, and placards plainly bearing legends in support of China, Cuba, the USSR, North Korea and the Hanoi government." Kerry was a vocal supporter of the "People's Peace Treaty," a supposed "people's" declaration to end the war, reportedly drawn up in communist East Germany. It included nine points, all of which were taken from Viet Cong (Vietnamese Communist) peace proposals at the Paris Peace Talks as conditions for a United States retreat from the Vietnam War.

Because Kerry was also a principal spokesman for VVAW, and as you can see at wintersoldier.com actually is on the wall of shame ('fame' as they see it) in a museum, in Vietnam, to this day. He's right there with Hanoi Jane (Fonda). Thus the tag, Hanoi John. It's just their way of saying thanks.

Never mind that at wintersoldier you can read a book he co-authored called - The New Soldier. Let's just say everything you heard about militants in the 60s was wrapped up in John Kerry. I mean, he supposedly sat in on a meeting where these goofballs openly discussed assassinating a sitting US Senator, and apparently Kerry just kept that to himself (or maybe joined in the discussion - no one really knows).

As for the convention, I get the sense that the leftwing 'mainstream' want to take the Dem convention management out of the hands of the remaining 60s militant types that still run the Dem Party in 2004. I think they're going to provide a lot more than just 3 hours coverage for the Dem. But it's all going to be by way of their own news shows, packages, specials, and so on - where they have complete control of the production, and the message, and obviously, the spin. They will attempt to produce an instant myth. What do they need a convention for, right?
