Star Wars Episode III Title Released: Revenge of the Sith

Special Announcement: Episode III Title July 24, 2004

Starwars.com is pleased to announce that Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith is the full title of the next Star Wars film, scheduled for release on May 19, 2005.

The Sith are masters of the dark side of the Force and the sworn enemies of the Jedi. They were all but exterminated by the Jedi a thousand years ago, but the evil order continued in secrecy. They operated quietly, behind the scenes, acting in pairs - a Master and an Apprentice - patiently biding their time before they could take over the galaxy. In Episode III, they'll finally exact their revenge on the Jedi.

The title was publicly revealed today in a special presentation to a packed audience of Star Wars fans at Comic-Con International in San Diego, California. "For some time now, the naming of a new Star Wars movie has taken on some special meaning among core fans, who love to take part in guessing games before a title is announced, and then engage in debate once it is," said Steve Sansweet, Director of Content Management and Head of Fan Relations for Lucasfilm. "Let the debates begin."

So which characters will make their debut in this one? Hopefully my favorite Boba Fett in Bounty Hunter form. I have also heard we might see Chewbacca or even Han Solo.

Whilst a Bush victory is definetely to be looked forward to, fans of "Sater Wars" gave up on the prequels about two movies ago.

Poor acting, bad writing, inept direction, and tons of unnecessary special effects and characters, as well as flat contradictions of the original mythos were to blame. So was Lucas' unabashed pandering to children and his use of his movies to sell more toys.

Hate to be so negative, but fans aren't exactly optimistic about this latest money-grab.

Alien vs Pedator releases soon, too!...Aug. 13, I think.

..What's really scary? Kerry/Edwards being elected and GOP losing the Senate. :(

The difference between the hype for Episode 1 and this movie is astounding.

Of course, it doesn't help that the new trilogy has been outdone story-wise by Knights of the Old Republic.

I have hope, actually. Jar Jar Binks did not appear in the first film, so I am assuming that in this one he meets his demise courtesy of a body cavity search with a light saber at Customs at the Tatooine Spaceport. "Awk! Dat hurt! Meesa not a terrorist! Oooh! Aaah! Michael Morford! Michael Morford! AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!"

Homeland security, baby...
