The Democratic Socialists of America Political Action Committee is officially urging its members to work for the election of John Kerry in the 2004 presidential election.
"Kerry was hardly the first choice of our members," said Frank Llewellyn, national director of the DSA. "Most supported Dennis Kucinich or Howard Dean in the Democratic primary elections and would be very critical of Senator Kerry's voting record on trade issues, as well as his support for the resolution authorizing the use of force in Iraq; but the most important concern of our members now is to defeat Bush."
The DSA is the largest socialist organization in the U.S., with 5,500 members and local organizations in many large cities. It is affiliated with the Socialist International, a federation of the world's socialist, social democratic and labor parties. It was founded as a group determined to push the Democratic Party to the left and has worked closely with the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
The statement urged DSA members to participate in get-out-the-vote and voter education projects with other progressive organizations.
"It is very important that progressive movements keep organizing and mobilizing so that we will be in a position to make demands on a new administration," Llewellyn continued.
The Congressional Progressive Caucus is a socialist-leaning bloc of about 60 votes or nearly 30 percent of the minority vote in the lower chamber. Until 1999, the website of the Progressive Caucus was hosted by the DSA.
Following an expose of the link between the two organizations in WorldNetDaily, the Congressional Progressive Caucus established its own website under the auspices of the Congress. Another officer of the Progressive Caucus, and one of its guiding lights, is avowed socialist Rep. Bernie Sanders, the Vermont independent.
The Democratic Socialists of America's chief organizing goal is to work within the Democratic Party and remove the stigma attached to "socialism" in the eyes of most Americans.
"Stress our Democratic Party strategy and electoral work," explains an organizing document of the DSA. "The Democratic Party is something the public understands, and association with it takes the edge off. Stressing our Democratic Party work will establish some distance from the radical subculture and help integrate you to the milieu of the young liberals."
Nevertheless, the goal of the Democratic Socialists of America has never been deeply hidden. Prior to the cleanup of its website in 1999, the DSA included a song list featuring "The Internationale," the worldwide anthem of communism and socialism. Another song on the site was "Red Revolution" sung to the tune of "Red Robin." The lyrics went: "When the Red Revolution brings its solution along, along, there'll be no more lootin' when we start shootin' that Wall Street throng. ..." Another song removed after WorldNetDaily's expose was "Are You Sleeping, Bourgeoisie?" The lyrics went: "Are you sleeping? Are you sleeping? Bourgeoisie, Bourgeoisie. And when the revolution comes, We'll kill you all with knives and guns, Bourgeoisie, Bourgeoisie."
In the last three years, the Progressive Caucus has been careful to moderate its image for mainstream consumption.
"The members of the Progressive Caucus share a common belief in the principles of social and economic justice, non-discrimination and tolerance in America and in our relationships with other countries," the group's statement of purpose explains. Most of the members of the Progressive Caucus, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, opposed authorizing the war on Iraq. In fact, most Democrats in the House opposed the war resolution. Then House Minority Leader Gephardt and 81 other House Democrats supported the move.
"The Republican monopoly over all three branches of government has enabled an unprecedented rightist attack and rollback of the economic, legislative and policy gains won by the social movements of the twentieth century," said the statement by the DSA announcing support of the Kerry campaign. "The Bush administration has steadily gutted the democratic regulatory state begun by the New Deal and Great Society. This dogmatic commitment to rapacious corporate domination, combined with the administration's hostility to civil rights, has led to outright attacks on environmental protection, labor rights, public education, and the living standards of low-wage workers. In addition, the right's cultural war in favor of the misnamed "traditional family values" threatens to turn back the crucial gains of the movements for women's and gay and lesbian equality. The Bush administration's continued hold on power for another four years would be a devastating blow to the economic security and cultural freedoms of most Americans, as well as to the prospects for peace and stability in much of the world."
What the leftists don't realize is that many Americans are delighted to see the New Deal and Great Society being dismantled.
I do love coffee-house revolutionaries. 90+% of them have never touched a firearm and 99% of them are bourgeoisie. And they've all forgotten who was first against the wall in the real Revolution.
In related news:
"Parasites support elites who promise them new hosts."
They should be required to look at the lists of books that were banned and burned in Nazi Germany, the Soviet Bloc and other leftist paradises.
This needs to be passed around. These are Kerry's people.
Socialism is the prelude to Communism. No wonder Kerry and Jane Fonda sided with the Communist Vietnamese during the Nam War.
Now they want control of the White House!
So Kerry now has the endorsement of the DSA, the CP/USA, a bunch of anti-American foreigners and the terrorists themselves. Should be the kiss of death for him, but it won't be.
I have updated my FMCDH sign-off with the addition of (BITS).....Blood In The Streets, which I foresee coming soon, due to the enormous increase of the communist progressive movement being shoved down the throat of this failing REPUBLIC through the Judicial tyranny of fiat law, and the passing of unconstitutional laws by the Legislative and Executive branches of our government.
FMCDH(BITS)
The Shady Deal and the Great Socialist Society are a part of this grand scheme by the elitist plutocrats to control all of us. They are wolves in sheep's clothing who have fooled million into believing that the struggle is left vs. right rather than the wealthy elite vs. the middle class.
The elitist's "noblesse oblige" mandates that they will "give" us just enough to barely survive, but they will maintain their wealth and position. The Soviets had their elite, who got to go the front of the long lines at the old Soviet GUM department store. They had the best cars, clothes, and forbidden pleasures from the "decadent" West. Yes, Kerry and his ilk (Soros and Buffett) will tax you and me and hide behind the tree of altruism. They will also crush the spirit of individual achievement, which has made America great.
I was watching the news last week and msnbc must have said at least 10 times how Ralph Reed the former head of the (gasp) christian coalition was bush's southern campaign director. I must have been in the bathroom when they announced kerry's endorsement by the socialists
Why would the socialists support a gigilo that married a billionairess? Or maybe they're just to uninformed to know this.
I saw a membership list of the DSA-USA a few years back and was not surprised to find the names of a large majority of Democratic Congressional members on the list of membership. In checking the site awhile back I saw the membership list had been cloaked so as to not be available for viewing.
Anyone who is a Democrat who claims to support socialism is nothing more than a control freak who wants only the elite to have a say in America's future. Socialism is incompatable with capitalism in every way, shape, or form.
The whole concept of socialism in America is to confuse the people, and claim to represent the oppressed and down-trodden in society. That has always been the mainstay of socialist/Communist philosophy. In the end the oppressed will always be subjected to oppression by the elite government. The DSA-USA is directly in opposition to the American Constitution, and so any member therein is a threat to America.
Do you really think FDR was thinking of the poor and unemployed during the Great Depression? No, he was buying a generation of voters for the democrat party. A generation later, that great con artist Lyndon ("Useless") Baines Johnson (poor boy gone wealthy) purchased a new generation of voters with "The Great Society."
Today's generation of neo-Communists are trying to purchase votes through class warfare and socialized medical care. And they have, as Che Guevara preached in his book on guerrilla warfare, gotten control of the TV station to control the information flow to the public. Through all media forms, we are given the mantra, "democrat good, Republican bad."
US Supreme Court Justice Brandeis advocated that industries that became so large that they represented a threat to freedom should be broken up if economic competition could not accomplish the same result. This brings to mind the vast media monopolies used by the elitist democrat party to control information in all forms; movies, music, news, publishing, etc. The reason that crypto-turncoat Senator McCain is so popular with the media talking heads is that he has spearheaded legislative efforts to empower them. Think Campaign Finance Deform and the Telescrewmations Act of 1996, and you'll see that this RINO is in the media's and the democrat's pocket. It is time to fight back by calling on Congress to repeal these oppressive acts. By doing so, you will stop the plutocrats from taking America.
What Leftists don't seem to realize is just how fed up a lot of Americans are getting with their hate-filled, destructive agenda. Their Day is coming.
When did Marxist/Leninism become "Progressive"?
"Progressive" is a code word for socialist, note that Sanders of VT is an officer.
Why these people are allowed to get on national TV and not disclose or be asked by the press reagrding their membership in a socialist organization is beyond me.
