Seriesly, you're right. I was just looking over soem of my old posts from 99, and I was struck at how everybody went out of their way to make disagreements in a civil tone.
I think the 'troll hunters' are a bit quick to jump on new people too. Granted, there have been a lot of infiltrators lately, but I've seen totally unreasonable reactions to some posters who are genuinely asking for a logical debate.

I agree, everyone was friendly had helpful when I joined, even if I made a bonehead comment. I got the newbie tease now and then, but nothing like what's been happening lately.
All the newbies lately who are allegedly "looking for a reasonable debate" always have the same MO.
First, they talk about how they thought this site was about freedom, free speech, etc. and there sure doesn't seem to be much tolerance for dissenting views.
Then, they go on about some of the ruder, funny posts and say they're mean spirited. So, they waste more bandwidth complaining, inviting more catcalls.
And on it goes, til they're banned or stop posting.
Agreed!
NAH!!!
Zapping Trolls is great fun!

Me too. I have a very good conservative Republican friend at work that would love to join and post but I'm afraid for him to post because of the "troll" accusations going around right now.
I don't think I've offended anybody because I'm afraid to post much but if I have I'm sorry. :-)
