Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Shop Planned Parenthood's online store, and you'll find a collection of items promoting the organization -- everything from pins to posters, from condoms to "milk chocolate birth control pill packs."
But recently, Planned Parenthood's sales site tried to expand its merchandise line by touting a t-shirt proclaiming "I had an abortion."
The shirt offer has sparked an outcry from women who have had abortions, who believe that Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion operation, is sending the wrong message to young women.
"When I saw the shirt, I thought they are simply trying to mainstream abortion," said Georgette Forney, co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness campaign. The campaign was launched by women who have had abortions who regret their decisions and don't want other women to make the same mistake.
"But then I realized the T-shirt's message, 'I had an abortion,' is a response to the Silent No More Awareness Campaign's message, 'I Regret My Abortion,' so I guess I could look at it as a backhanded compliment," Forney explained. "They have noticed our campaign and they feel it needs a response."
Olivia Gans, director of American Victims of Abortion, who had an abortion in 1981, says, in response to the t-shirts, "Having an abortion is a heartbreaking experience. It is not something to boast about."
But Planned Parenthood defends the decision to sell the controversial shirts. Planned Parenthood President Gloria Feldt said the shirts let women "stand up for choice." "It's a heart-wrenching decision, but women don't need to be ashamed of it," said Feldt.
Planned Parenthood has been advertising the t-shirts with the blurb: "They have finally arrived! Planned Parenthood is proud to offer yet another t-shirt in our new social fashion line. These soft and comfortable fitted tees assert a powerful message in support of women's rights.."
At one point, the t-shirts, which sell for $15, were apparently pulled from the online display, only to later reappear.
In recent years, greater attention has been paid to the effect that abortion has on women.
Groups such as Silent No More talk about the harmful aftereffects of abortion, while "Rachel's Vineyard" offers retreats for women who are suffering the loss of a child due to abortion.
In many areas of the country, women who have undergone abortions have become leaders of the pro-life movement.
Actress and Cover Girl model Jennifer ONeill, a spokeswoman for Silent No More, has talked about the real-life nightmare she endured as a result of her abortion -- a nightmare which included multiple miscarriages, broken relationships, and intense psychological pain.

The blood red color choice for the shirts was especially creepy.
This speaks volumes, and I greatly respect a women who would do this. It must be hard to be honest about your hindsight in this situation.
I have an idea for PP. They should sell the shirts, "I had an abortion" and on the back say "...and this is what it looks like" with a dead baby on the back.
I am sure those shirts would sell like "hotcakes" (sarcasm off).

Guess they are just worshipping Moloch and Ba'al in their own way.
Is this for real? I went to the Planned Parenthood site and I don't see this shirt for sale. I think this is part of a publicity stunt although I wouldn't be surprised either as I've seen some of the parties they've thrown to celebrate the Rowe vs Wade anniversary.
I support their shirts - and let people see who advocates the murder of innocent babies.
Bring it all out into the forefront where it cannot be any longer ignored by the masses of un-caring Americans
I think that publicising the fact that they're an ABORTION organization, and that they're proud of killing (any baby, any size, for any reason!) is a terrific idea. If enough people (i.e., VOTERS) notice, maybe the government will stop giving PP our tax money and pretending it's for "women's health"!

Planned Parenthood has no conscience. Abortion mills are run by organized crime for the most part, and the rest are sociopaths. Their blindness won't let them see that they don't allow the unborn victim of their heinous murder to have any "choice".
"It's a heart-wrenching decision, but women don't need to be ashamed of it," said Feldt.
That proves they have no conscience. When someone shouldn't feel any shame over murdering an unborn baby, that one has no conscience.
It will go nicely with the skull and crossbones tats and the spike tongue stud.
My thoughts exactly.
I should think that, in light of the sort of woman most likely to purchase and wear such a shirt, they'd have the option of printing them up as:
"[One|two|three|etc] abortions and counting!"
Wow, thanks I used the link and sure enough it was there. I didn't find it so either I didn't look very hard or they have removed it from the store.
If I ever run into somebody wearing one of these t-shirts, I will simply ask the following question (loud enough for everybody around to hear):
Are you so proud of killing your unborn child that you want to let the entire world know about it?
Isn't it nice that tax dollars go to support this?
I'm sure this will happen right after the NAACP loses its tax exempt status.
That said, I find myself a bit put off by the headline of this article.
The article offers no evidence of a huge outcry among "women," just an outcry among a particular set of women in the pro-life/anti-abortion camp.
The problem here is that the article treats "women" as a homogenous group, in precisely the same way the pro-aborts do. Practically speaking, that's a problem.
In my experience, if one can characterize "women" at all on abortion, they are by and large ambivalent on the issue. The worst approach to winning them to our side would be to tell them what they supposedly think.
The moral obscenity of abortion is obvious to us, but for those to whom it's not obvious, they need to be led, not beaten, to the right point of view. This can and should include pointing out the horror of the opposing viewpoint, but it has to be done the right way.
