Former swifty boat commander Bob Elder did a devastating segment on Laura Ingraham's show this morning. He and his group are determined that American will know the truth of John Kerry's Vietnam record.
Elder says that two of the Purple Hearts were the result of Kerry's own hand. He had to put in for them himself. One was turned down twice and Kerry finally got someone in Saigon to come through for him.
Kerry left his comrades in arms and then turned on them accusing them of hideous war crimes. Three men Elder knows were kept for seven years and tortured. They could have been released if they said five simple words: I am a war criminal. They didn't say it. They didn't have to say it. Kerry did it for them.
Kerry was aloof from the rest. He made it clear that he was out for himself and to created his own JFK resume. He made it clear that he was doing this so he could create a path to the White House for himself.
Before this is over, Elder, Sampley, O'Neill and the rest of these patriots are going to stop this phony from becoming our commander in chief.

I think a little statistical analysis would be interesting here. Did the average vet get a p heart per month? Then do the 5 million to one calculation, etc...
After Elder finished, Laura ruminated that this may not be a useful avenue of attack for Bush since the Dems could respond that Kerry was risking his life in Vietnam and Bush was in the National Guard. She also said that the Dems have been going lightly lately in terms of attacking Bush on his National Guard record. I think this is what prompted the call mentioned above.
Elder was a great guest--articulate, informative, and authoritative. Laura needs to stand back and let a guest like Elder get out his message. I listen to her every day so I don't think I am being unfair. She doesn't think that attacking Kerry on his military record is useful. His antiwar activities yes, his military service no.

I, too, can never forgive Kerry doing what he did and said after he left Vietnam.
All of this talk about Vietnam is bringing up some very, very bad memories of that time for me and many others. His riding on his four month tour in Vietnam is disgusting when you consider what he did to our country when he came home.
Agree Elder was a great spokesman. He deserves plenty of air time. I think he is even better than O'Neill. He served his full tour of 12 months and was in Swift Boats the entire time Kerry was there. Elder served from Sept 68 to Sept 69.
Dubya should not do the attacks. The swifties are the right ones to go after Kerry. We need to find ways to help keep their message rolling.

Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has been formed to counter the false "war crimes" charges John Kerry repeatedly made against Vietnam veterans who served in our units and elsewhere, and to accurately portray Kerry's brief tour in Vietnam as a junior grade Lieutenant. We speak from personal experience -- our group includes men who served beside Kerry in combat as well as his commanders. Though we come from different backgrounds and hold varying political opinions, we agree on one thing: John Kerry misrepresented his record and ours in Vietnam and therefore exhibits serious flaws in character and lacks the potential to lead.
We regret the need to do this. Most Swift boat veterans would like nothing better than to support one of our own for America's highest office, regardless of whether he was running as a Democrat or a Republican. However, Kerry's phony war crimes charges, his exaggerated claims about his own service in Vietnam, and his deliberate misrepresentation of the nature and effectiveness of Swift boat operations compels us to step forward.
For more than thirty years, most Vietnam veterans kept silent as we were maligned as misfits, addicts, and baby killers. Now that a key creator of that poisonous image is seeking the Presidency we have resolved to end our silence.
The time has come to set the record straight.

Agree, that is what surrogates are for. The RNC needs to go after Kerry on his failure to release his full military records and hit him hard on his antiwar activities and associations. Kerry has used his status as a decorated military hero to intimidate and destroy his political opponents. Weld is a good example. In point of fact, Kerry is very vulnerable on his military service and the questionable circumstances surrounding his medals and the curtailment of his tour, which he had to initiate.
As a Vietnam vet who did my 12 months in-country and 8 more months afloat offshore, I despise Kerry. He is a fraud and should be exposed as such.
"Senator, I served with Jack Kennedy. I knew Jack Kennedy. Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine. Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy."
John Kerry is your better! He went to the best schools! He has a rich wife. And nice bicycles. And breeding and class and style. He speaks languages! He's quite sorry about the Harley but that's for show you know! My gosh! The man was in Vietnam! A dirty little place! Kerry did not have a manicure for 4 months!
So, you little peons just do what JFK II wants now. You hear! Gads! The little people can be so annoying!

Three Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and a Silver Star in less than four months in combat is ridiculous!

The RNC should just whip out his Senate voting record and link it to our intelligence failures and general unpreparedness for 9/11.
That is another area worth exploring. Kerry has a most undistinguished legislative record for someone elected to the Seanate four times. I think he has 6 or 7 pieces of legislation with his name on it and several of those were for naming post offices in Mass. Lest anyone forget, Kerry is the most liberal senator from the most liberal state in America.

That's nice. But, compare the audience size and distribution points to the coverage yesterday of JK's little boat trip accross Boston Harbor with 13 of his former 'boat mates'. Which do you think had the larger audience - my money is on CNN, FNC, MSNBC.... all of whom showed the event live. I'll also bet the photo of that boat trip made a lot more front pages than this installment of the LI show. Mr Elder and his associates will have a very difficult time winning this battle.
How many media outlets/politicians ever question the medals or their validity?
