BTW, hubby and I are planning on retiring in Texas in a couple of years. How's the freedom over there? (re: homeschooling, building and developing private land as you see fit, guns, etc)

Excellent on all accounts. I have never lived in Arizona, but compared to Connecticut where I grew up, it is heaven.

Very good to hear! I can NOT wait to get there! Arizona isn't so bad, but I can't do very much with my own land and that irritates me. Of course, compared to military housing, this is already wonderful. (MP's called because my son is sitting gin a tree. MP's called because my son is digging a hole with a teaspoon. MP's called because my daughter is sitting in the front yard talking to a friend and I'm not watching her while I go to the bathroom. Can't put up a kiddy pool so the kids can wade. We got trouble because I mowed, but didn't edge my yard one weekend. I could go on and on...)
