Kerry Offends Marines at Wendy's

John Kerry's heavily hyped cross-country bus tour stumbled out of the blocks yesterday, as a group of Marines publicly dissed the Vietnam War hero in the middle of a crowded restaurant.

Kerry was treating running mate Sen. John Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth, to a Wendy's lunch in Newburgh, N.Y., for their 27th wedding anniversary — an Edwards family tradition — when the candidate approached four Marines and asked them questions.

The Marines — two in uniform and two off-duty — were polite but curt while chatting with Kerry, answering most of his questions with a "yes, sir" or "no, sir."

But they turned downright nasty after the Massachusetts senator thanked them "for their service" and left.

"He imposed on us and I disagree with him coming over here shaking our hands," one Marine said, adding, "I'm 100 percent against [him]."

You don't use that kind of body language to anyone unless you're willing to follow it up with an arss kicking.

Let's all thank the secret service for letting it play out. It may just get to the point where Kerry demands all the military are removed from his appearances.

Being a southerner with manners, Edwards knows how to behave to those lower in social status to you. You treat them extra politely. Kerry is just an obnoxious damned yankee who thinks marrying a fortune and making a living off other peoples taxes innoculates you from having manners.

I was with a large group of Vietnamese outside CBS' New York News operation the Sunday the Democrats held their debate in NY. Very loud and very clear, the Vietnamese yelled:

Kerry Viet Cong

I first became acquainted with Marines when I roomed with a future-Marine in my first year in high school (a military boarding school). My best friend in college went into the Marines (and sadly, was killed in the barracks bombing in Beiruit).

Nothing has changed in all these years... Marines are still the most honorable folks on the planet... they still have my deepest gratitude for all they have done for this country over the years.

I would have loved to see that Marine deck Kerry on the spot... but then Marines are above that... they have self-discipline.... which makes them so effective.

Hang in there Marines... many of us civilians do appreciate you, and I now regret not being more vocal about these truths over the years!

I alway's enjoy seeing marines after they have finished basic training. They are superman and they have not yet cultivated the discipline. They go out and get their butts kicked in fights they saught like heat seeking missiles. A year later they are a different animal. Quite a metamorphisis.

Kerry also employed Paul Revere's famed midnight run and imagery of Bunker Hill to bash President Bush over U.S. intelligence failures.

"These are the places where people dared to stand up and put their lives on the line — to take a risk — for something they believed in very deeply," Kerry said of the Boston neighborhood where he was speaking.

"One if by land, two if by sea, and the message was right. Come to think of it, they had better intelligence than we do today about what's going on," Kerry continued, drawing the loudest applause of the event.

Let me see - Kerry spent eight years on the Senate Intelligence Committee - and he voted to cut the budget. Hey Johnny, this is not a good issue for you.

In Harrisburg, Kerry noted that there was more bad news coming out of the financial markets yesterday, with oil prices reaching new highs and economic growth limping along at three percent.

I heard a talking head say that the market wasn't going to like Kerry bashing the Saudis in his speech. Wonder if this is the market reaction.

"You know where you can stick that finger, SIR!"

I have a strong impression that Effen Kerry is getting into a Commander-in-Chief mindset already.

When Effin Kerry (Mr. Bunny Sperm) loses the election, I'll have this picture in mind. That Marine, God bless him, was really holding back.

It appears that Kerry is pointing to his ribbons.

He's probably asking about the Marine's decorations.

Which is not to say that the Marine wasn't dying to tell him off.

3% (3.75% in 2004) is "limping"? Kerry's trying to outdo Algore in the stupid pr-ck department!

Long manicured nails for a guy! How gross! Man of the people, right! Sure! No, he's a girlie-man! I wouldn't shake a man with long manicured finger nails. It gives me the creeps. The Manicured Candidate! What will happen if a terrorist attack happens in the US and he breaks one of his nails?

The marines do look like they are being harassed. I love it how they are refusing to even muster a smile for Kerry.

You are so on the money with your post. I've often been on the receiving line of elitist southerners with their noses in the air: "Edwards knows how to behave to those lower in social status to you. You treat them extra politely. "

Just look at the eyes. The Marine standing was doing everything possible to avoid decking him.
