If an attack has to happen, I hope the attackers are dumb enough to do it before November. Unless it comes as a result of a major administration screwup, it's practically a guarantee of a Bush reelection.

I'm no longer as sure of that as I once was. Kerry's not-quite-spoken promise to "make all this war stuff go away" is very appealing to an ever-growing segment of the electorate. A repeat of the Spanish election debacle is not out of the question.

Yes, unlike the spineless voters in Spain, the US will rally behind our leadership against an aggressor. Of course you will still have your core "qnybody but Bush" wacko's, but they will be reviled like the scum they are, once the rest of Joe Sixpack sees that they hope for the destruction of the US

If Kerry were to be elected, you could bet that the terrorists would strike hard and probably soon after the Inaguaration because they would want to see how he would respond to attacks.

They already know how Bush responds...but they've said they want to disrupt the election season, so maybe this has to do with that.

Plus, they say the target is NYC. Since the Convention is to be in NYC, an attack at this time might result in a change of plans for the RNC Convention.

Attacks by individual suicide bombers targeting public places (like malls) are almost impossible to prevent unless law enforcement gets very lucky. On the other hand, the terrorists probably know that they are damaging their own cause by this tactic. Imagine the backlash against Arabs & Muslims in this country if suicide bombing is tried here, even on a small scale! They will either leave or be lynched.

I predict that all of the radical leftists (Pig Dung Moore, the Hollyweird crowd, et al) will have a knee-jerk reaction of glee if it happens. At which point they will have to go into hiding for all of the active blood hunts that will be sworn against them. Even lamestream news reporters will steer clear of them, for fear of catching a stray round in the back of the head.

"I think they want to try and shake our psyche again," says Jerry Hauer, an ABC News consultant and former director of New York City's Office of Emergency Management. "And I think the easy types of attacks right now are car bombs, truck bombs.

Of course we can't racially profile. Who are the terrorists? Why Arab men with mustaches between the ages of 18 and 40. The Olympics, The cruise ship, The Marine barracks, The embassies in Africa, The first Trade Center bomb, The Cole, The Trade Center II Airplane assault, but don't profile.

I think that the United Nations should be shut down until we can GUARANTEE their safety. We don't want anything to happen to THEM so they should just GO HOME until further notice. DON'T CALL US, WE WILL CALL YOU!!!

I'm not so sure. The president is running on the theme that America is safer under his command, if there is a major attack before election day he's going to have a hard time defending himself from the media onslaught. If would help of course if we could get Bin Laden before November.

I used to think that but there are enough nuts out there that are likely to think that Bush allowed the attack to succeed for political purposes... ya know, the Michael Moore/Al Gore crowd.

AQ wants to have an impact on the election, do something which affects the outcome in a way that is favorable to them. A President Kerry who would not wage war against terror but rather issue arrest warrants that could never be executed and ask the UN to condemn attacks is the election result AQ wants. They know that an attack in the U.S. probably would rally support arount the President and foil Kerry's chances. They also know that the Iraq body count is the Presidents biggest vulnerability. Iraq is where AQ will try to make their next big mass casualty attack happen I think, or at a U.S. military facility somewhere else outside the U.S. if they can't pull it off in Iraq.

Arab Terrorists couldn't possibly cause more damage to New York Corporations than John Kerry - if elected - and his "band of brothers" from the VVAW.
