How Do You Tell a Democrat from a Republican?

What's the difference between the two major political parties? Some would say, "None." Third-party maven Ralph Nader claims they're all "Republicrats."

Then there's the other view. The two major parties, says conventional wisdom, represent enduring and opposing philosophies of government--liberal and conservative--two currents that go back to the beginning of the republic.

Let's just see about that

In the following list, which would you consider classic Democratic sentiments? Which are typical Republican stands?

[ ] People should take care of themselves, not rely on the government.
[ ] The government should help the poor and needy.
[ ] Government regulation stifles the economy.
[ ] America needs a big, powerful, active federal government.
[ ] The government can't solve social problems and shouldn't try.
[ ] The government must expand the rights of minority groups.
[ ] America must project military strength abroad.
[ ] The government should avoid war at any cost.

You're right--whatever you marked. Both parties have espoused all these positions at one time or another.

Hey ...

The difference between a Republican and a Democrat is Republicans spare the innocent and kill the guilty, and Democrats spare the guilty and kill the innocent.

There's a bunch of questions they conveniently left off that list, questions that IMHO show the clear difference between the Parties today. Just a few:
Affirmative Action
Homo/whateversexual "Rights"
Abortion
Socialism/Communism
Schools as an extension of "social services"
United Nations
National Security

You shall be judged by your friends:

The democrat convention in Boston was nothing but an exercise in putting a new dress on an old whore.

The convention planners had to hide all their extremists from public view. We DID NOT SEE:

· the hateful gays and lesbians, who in addition to their nights of debauchery, covet our most precious – our children;
· the violent Marxists that hate freedom and individual wealth, yet want to run the country;
· the hateful atheists and Christian-haters who hate Christians and "tradition-only" Jews who hate truly spiritual Jews;
· the educationalists hate parents who would raise children with ethics and morals, who design the perverse curricula designed to indoctrinate our children with hate-America and free-sex ideas – they;
· the vile and hateful abortionists rejoicing as they kill baby after baby and strive to silence the pro-lifers;
· the hateful feminists whose contempt of men knows no limits;
· the union thugs who shake down corporations and beat up those that just want to work;
· the zombie-like bureaucrats who run the legions of non-performing, paper-shuffling “goobermint” employees (military excepted) who vote democrat just because a republican president might actually expect them to work;
· societies dependent families and individuals who take advantage of every hand-out program in America and vote only for those who promise more goodies for them;
· the bitter socialists who want to sap the productivity of the producers and capitalists by penalizing profits;
· the hateful racial "dividers" who blame the evil white man for all their cultural problems, and demand more and more of the your hard labors as compensation;
· the open-border racists who invite floods of illegals into this country and then encourage them to sign up for all the freebees;
· the gun-haters who hate the that honest Americans might have a gun in their home, or worse yet, that some of them have license to carry it under their coats
· the brain-dead suburban soccer moms who really have no clue, except that they want abortion to remain unrestricted, and think their most important purpose in this world is to have tea with their town’s Superintendent of schools so their kids get the best teachers.

WE DID NOT SEE THE TRUE FACE OF DEMOCRATS at the Boston convention but they were there nonetheless. These hateful people had to sit on their hands and keep their mouths shut; allowed only to clap their hands, flash big smiles and cheer their leaders’ lies. They looked just like you and me at the convention, but they were impossible to spot. But, they were there as certain as the sun rises in the east!

Being “democrat” is synonymous with being dishonest. Except for their voting base, the only way the democrats can convince people to vote for them is to pretend they are normal people. You can dress them up, but you can’t change what’s inside – they’re rotten to the core.

It is no doubt that someone of Kerry’s poor character is the candidate of the democrats.

Here is the difference as posted yesterday by BluSky:

Once in office, (D) democrats' vote with the following:

* Against school vouchers
* Oppose Academic Freedom proposals
* Pro-NEA
* Pro-Unions
* Increase in taxes
* Increase the size of government
* Increase social program spending
* Weaken our military and intellegence gathering
* Pro-gun-control
* Against prayer in schools, 'God' in our society
* Anti-christian activities
* Pro-right to vote for criminals
* Character does NOT matter
* Pro-United Nations
* Placement of US military under UN control
* For intellectual dishonesty (i.e. unilateral support in Iraq)
* Cater to policies dictated by their mascots: ACLU, N.O.W., NARAL, Environmental groups, PETA, etc.
* anti-MLK - "Judge People by Skin Color Not Content of Character"
* Pro-affirmative action
* Pro-racial quota's
* For the transfer of US Sovereignty to the United Nations
* Reject & Oppose notion of right, wrong, good & evil
* Oppose moral accountability
* Against Individualism
* Pro-activist judgeships
* Oppose teaching of 'American History' in U.S. schools
* Proponents of & support for 'Revisionist History' programs
* For the changing of our Constitution to a 'Living Document'
* Anti-Capitalism
* Pro-socialistic practices
* Oppose tort reforms
The list is long.

Then there is this to remember:

The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened----

Norman Thomas, six-time Socialist Party presidential candidate and one of the founders of the ACLU

The most popular "selling point" the dems claim is "The government should help the poor and needy". That's what they claim anyway. Reality is the dems have had control over the major cities and ran them into the ground. Their social experiment can be illustrated with Washington D.C.

i like how the author switched from "conservative and liberal" to "democrat and republican"

the two sets have not always had the same relationships. a conservative republican was the idea behind Ike. before him, a revolutionary FDR, a liberal democrat. TR put the seeds into the republican conservative however, with his nature bend in politics. "conservative comes from "conservation"... as in of wildlife)

though for FDR i will say this, he was moderate (or at least well adjusted) in his approach. give people JOBS... not money (today's dems feel it should be the other way around)

news flash to Mr. Tanim! the WildLife Reserve was NOT the target. the Wildlife Reserve happend to include an area NOT INHABITED DUE TO OIL SEEPING OUR OF THE GROUND. THAT was the target.

Difference between a Liberal and Conservative

Say a person is drowning 75 feet off the shore.

The CONSERVATIVE will throw him 50 foot of rope and tell the person to swim to the rope and I will pull you in.

The LIBERAL will throw him 100 feet of rope, then drop his end so he can run up the beach to do another good deed.

EITHER WAY, THE SWIMMER AIN'T GONNA MAKE IT IF HE COUNTS ON EITHER ONE OF THEM

gun control laws are harshest there. gun related crimes are most concentratd there as well.

school systems over there are the worst in the nation. worse than Georgia.
this is due to their approach of "normalizing" the system across the board.

if you have eer been there late at night, you will see a massive number of homeless people... a block or two from mansions.

those social experiments?

Not all of us. There are four of us on my floor who I have positively identified as Republicans. One of them was so happy to discover I was one he nearly cried. We are, though, a distinct minority.

Their anti crime methods have led to the highest crime in the nation.
Their school system has led to the worse school system in the nation.
Their tax and spend methods have driven out the middle class.
Their programs for the poor are like handing cholera ridden blankets to Indians on a Reservation.
Their gun programs have disarmed the honest citizens and armed the criminals.

What's the difference between the two major political parties?

There are many differences. However, they each have their corruption of the Constitution in common and that is what we exam each election. The 16th and 17th amendments ended any chance that the vision of the Constitution could succeed and resulted in the necessity for all institutionalized political parties to become corrupted. The decision the voter must take is simply a matter of deciding which corruption they favor.

You are right in your view and I apologize to you. I have indeed met numerous government (state local and federal) who have appeared productive and dedicated. I think dedicated people are hardly the norm, however.

Regretably, I think the burocracies now have reached a level of evolution that have actually replaced the "service" ethic with a "survival" mentality. Many within these burocracies are more concerned with keeping their jobs, expanding the department and adding layers of new employees and responsiblitites. Personally, If I were president, I would freeze all government hiring and begin to downsize. BTW, the department of education is one of the worst examples of a vast organization that produces very little of consequence.

I couldn't agree more! I work with a woman who's on the "survivor" mentality. She tries my patience at times, and she's going to keep feeding at the federal trough until she either drops dead or they force her to retire. She's the poster child for the reputation government employees have.

Yes to your thoughts. And I have seen the "department" go into a survival mode when a new department head comes in and impliments "efficiency" measures. Employee response is "what, me do more?"

This is also the typical union response as well. Which is one of the reasons I so dislike strong unions. The NEA (teacher's union)is one of the worst in this area.

And this is why the Customs and Border Protection is struggling with the reorganization that brought parts of the INS, Customs, and Agriculture together. Each element is represented by one or more different unions, which are all now fighting for survival. We can't get squat done.
