V A N I T Y - Subversive activities on FR?
None | 08-01-04 | Trident/Delta

Posted on 08/01/2004 6:31:53 PM PDT by Trident/Delta

Fair Warning, This is a VANITY rant.

I have been watching (lurking), for quite a while. I have come to the conclusion that, since FR has almost assumed "icon" status as an alternative news outlet, there seems to have been an "organized" effort at using FR as a vehicle for subverting thought.

Most recently, there have been some interesting banter, usually between the same individuals, about how much better CNN has become and how FNC has degraded, and how "so and so" isn't watching FNC anymore because of.....(insert some bogus issue here).....

After you break the code, it is almost hysterical to watch.

The usual targets seem to be Fox News Channel, ANY gun post, and FR in general.

I would just caution and advise all of us old-timer, hard-corps Freepers, be aware that you may be the subject of manipulation on the part of the notorious "seminar callers" of Rush Limbaugh fame.

As a note of warning to the "opinion shapers" that think they are being clever on FR. I have been documenting chapter and verse and send it to the Mods regularly.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled threads........

Semper Fidelis

They don't care, and are koolaid-brained enough to think that what they are saying is so profound/important that the spelling/punctuation doesn't matter.
Me, I have a hard time getting past poeple who say "loose" instead of "lose".

When they work in teams, they're usually paid professionals. FOX might take an interest.

So THAT'S what happened to the kid who took down names when the teacher left the classroom.

Just be sure you spell my name correctly in your top-level reports. The first 6 letters are the name of a fictional race of extraterrestrial beings, and the last 5 refer to "a person who poses as a satisfied customer or an enthusiastic gambler to dupe bystanders into participating in a swindle".

Oo-rah.

I saw exactly this behavior on a thread I had spent a good deal of time on tonight, along with an insular "conversation" between a couple people, totally off-topic (and why weren't they freepmailing?), about gigantic defections from FNC. Yes this was a gun thread and these liberals thought it silly to imagine that carrying guns could have changed WTC bombings (armed pilots?). Totally irrational dribble. Made me think I was still in NJ, although I fled there 2 decades ago.

Oh for Cripe's sake, mopes of various stripes have been trolling on FR ever since it came on-line, and they'll continue doing so.

That's no reason to go playing the great conservative gate-keeper protecting the sheeple from the evil libs.

I watch both Fox and CNN. Both are biased (as is every other news medium). It's a matter of degree

We need INDEPENDENT THOUGHT not more places where there is only one way to think about every issue.

Subversive? You bet.

I like watching Linda Vester, and I like her faces too, I just wish they'd give her a better format to deal with. She used to do a lot of one-on-one interviews, and asked some of the toughest questions of anyone on TV - the sort of thing you always wish they'd ask, but most of them don't.

I guess you didn't see the ones advocating that Bush should be impeached, and that there is no difference between Bush and Kerry, therefore we should vote for Kerry or stay home.

(all right here on FR)

Neither Oldfriend nor Nopardons are trolls by any stretch of the imagination.

We interrupt this Fox News Alert to bring you this Fox news Alert:

John Kerry ordered a double with cheese at Wendy's the other day.

Did he make it the Scientific Centerpiece of his Vote-loss Program?

I just looooooove the Fox Drug Channel, don't you?

EVERY New channel, FNC included, is so full of themselves and their opinions, that it is very difficult to find fact in a story these days. All you get is opinion and spin, and a race to blurt it out like an eight-year old.

I firmly believe OJ Simpson had a tremendous effect on 'The News' as it is presented today - as a form of entertainment.

And this was not a positive development.

Now, hold up. I registered in '99, usually lurk, and most posts are in the wee hours. However, I can still talk about the ASH ALERTS, Don Morgan, Freeper Island, Eschoir, All Your Base, and that atrocious black backgound in the early days . . .

Some of us just don't feel the need to talk overmuch.

OK, I'll bite. I like Fox News, especially Special Report, but they have absolutely got to get out of the habit of 23-hour-a-day reporting on missing wives/suspected husbands and celebrity trials.

I dislike the tabloid aspect in general -- that, and the steady diet of drug commercials.

I can't say if they're any better or worse than CNN in that department, since I've got my office TV pretty much permenently tuned to Fox News, and this is where I spend the bulk of my time. (The satellite box is in the other room, and I don't get around so well, so it stays where it is.)

I attribute much of this to Rupert Murdoch's tabloid background. Stuff like "Strippers First Night on the Job" segued right after some interview with high level diplomats -- only in the mind of an inveterate tabloid mogul could such a transition be dreamed up -- let alone repeatedly.

As to the steady diet of tabloid murders, yes, PLEASE give us all a break. Take Rita Cosby off the air, send her to a resperatory therapist -- at least until she learns to catch her breath -- and start covering some hardcore NEWS instead of.. hardcore hard-core.
