V A N I T Y - Subversive activities on FR?
None | 08-01-04 | Trident/Delta

Posted on 08/01/2004 6:31:53 PM PDT by Trident/Delta

Fair Warning, This is a VANITY rant.

I have been watching (lurking), for quite a while. I have come to the conclusion that, since FR has almost assumed "icon" status as an alternative news outlet, there seems to have been an "organized" effort at using FR as a vehicle for subverting thought.

Most recently, there have been some interesting banter, usually between the same individuals, about how much better CNN has become and how FNC has degraded, and how "so and so" isn't watching FNC anymore because of.....(insert some bogus issue here).....

After you break the code, it is almost hysterical to watch.

The usual targets seem to be Fox News Channel, ANY gun post, and FR in general.

I would just caution and advise all of us old-timer, hard-corps Freepers, be aware that you may be the subject of manipulation on the part of the notorious "seminar callers" of Rush Limbaugh fame.

As a note of warning to the "opinion shapers" that think they are being clever on FR. I have been documenting chapter and verse and send it to the Mods regularly.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled threads........

Semper Fidelis

Agree with your post.

I personally stopped watching FNC because my nervous system cannot handle all the people talking at once furthermore I can get the highlights here and then choose to tune in at night which is a rerun of the day programs.

I like watching NWNC which covers Oregon, Idaho and Washington plus National headlines. Personal preference.

Most here think for themselves and skip what isn't kosher for them.

So IMO your vanity is to true for most of us. Maybe you were molded by some opinions here?

Oh I forgot CSPAN Road to the Whitehouse has alot of raw media and is quite enjoyable for our family.

Guess he missed the moderator's request to cool it with the vanities!!!!

Wellllll, TD isn't given to many vanities - at least not many that I've noticed.

And it could be a nerve-racking election years with everybody's sensitivities somewhat heightened - on both sides. This is a vanity that is of some worth, and needs to be heeded. At least that's my opionion. We just had a thread yanked from a poster who's been here since Jul 3. The poster posted a link to something that wasn't flattering to the President, although apparently funny. Now - the thread was yanked, and yet the poster remains. Does the poster need watching?

I trust you're referring to the original version with Frank Sinatra and Angela Lansbury.

I'm still waiting for a remake of Von Ryan's Express.

Fox News is still better than CNN, but it's nowhere near as good as Fox circa 2000.

Since we started watching Dennis Miller, we don't miss Hannity one little bit.

Turn us in to the Cheka, we don't care.

OK, I learned how to use italics, but I see its time to spend a bit more time in the sandbox! (to learn how to turn it back off again!)

"I have been documenting chapter and verse and send it to the Mods regularly."

Recently resigned from the "Committee for the Defense of the Revolution", the condo board, or some other nosey Parker organization and are now free to devote your time to being a total a**hole here?

I have not really noticed it. Perhaps a post or two has been a bit weird.

FOX always draws ire from those who mistakenly believe it is a conservative news organization.

The actually adhere much more closely to journalistic ethics than any of the others, and therefore appear most conservative when compared, but they are really straight down the middle, as far I I can tell.

All liberals believe they are conservative because they hate the other side of the argument and can tolerate very little of it. So FOX get the label, but it just ain't so.

Ethics require balance and you don't get ethics at the alphabet channels or CNN, MSNBC.

They don't even know that their news is slanted, but they are being deluged my e-mails that say they are. This could not be more evident from comment made recently at a media get together held at the Kennedy School in Cambridge Mass.

It was taped on July 25th by C-span.

During this program they vehemently denied bias, yet one anchor, Peter Jennings, said" He felt the public pressure". The rest of them denied even that. Leher, Woodruff, Rather, and Brokaw.

FOX was invited, but did not show for obvious reasons. It's a good thing they did not because the audience was full bore liberal socialists. Even Al Franken was there.

We definitely need a conservative channel to help counter the bias. Something in a comedy vain might sell and would help greatly for a new show idea.

But straight news should always be straight news. Bias should be eliminated.

But, frankly the liberal bias began during the Vietnam war and has continued unimpeded. The simple reduction of liberal bias at FOX has really stirred the pot. We need some more good pot stirrers on the air.

I think you guys are profiling. That ain't fair and against leftest ideology. I never thought I'd get profiled on FR because I signed on in '98. WTF, profile away if it outs a troll; I'm secure in my manhood.

I assume this is a Hamster, it sure is cute, look at the way he holds that piece of food with his hands and those cute little eyes...sorry....

Oh yes, this thread...Dear Lurker, I prefer Fox to Cnn, but I really do not watch either one that much, Can not stand Bill O'Reilly, too smug for my taste. What do you recommend we watch for news Coverage on the TV? I really prefer the world wide web and FREE REPUBLIC FOR MY NEWS.

Have you noticed that Rita's show always begins with an obligatory "Fox News Alert", even if the "breaking news" broke hours ago?

Heather Nauert is good, and Linda Vester was one of the best reporters on the network until they stuck her in that ridiculous talk show format. I can't watch that either.

Like, you hit a home run right through the goalposts, nothing but net on that one.
Don't forget the ones who come in and say how intolerant and mean we are and blah, blah, blah.
You know, the threads that sometimes will not die.

Do you mean there's a new breed of Troll specifically going after FNC? CNN Mobies or something? Or were you just using the CNN vs. FNC as an example of subversion that exists on FR with the ABB Trolls? Otherwise, I guess I'll have to update my Troll Category List.
