Bush: 'Who the Heck Wants to Be Wartime President?'
CNSNEWS.com ^ | 8/06/04 | Susan Jones

(CNSNews.com) - In a speech to minority journalists in Washington on Friday, President Bush said he'd rather not be a "war president."

"This is a dangerous time," Bush told the Unity convention. "I wish it wasn't this way. I wish I wasn't the war president. Who in heck wants to be a war president? I don't. But this is what came our way. And this is our duty -- to protect our people. And I'll continue to do that to the best of my ability."

President Bush also told the journalists the threats that America faces are real -- and he has no choice but to let Americans know what's going on.

"When we find out intelligence that is real that threatens people, I believe we have an obligation as government to share that with people. And imagine what would happen if we didn't share that information with people in those buildings -- and something were to happen -- then what would you write? Then what would you say?"

Bush repeated that he has a "solemn duty" to follow every lead and share information. That's what his administration has done and what it will continue to do, he said.

Kerry doesn't want to be a war prez either, so he'll surrender if he's elected.

I wonder how fast the dims are going to twist that quote into President Bush wanting to shirk his responsibilities or that he's some sort of crybaby.

Who in heck wants to be a war president? I don't.

Didn't Bill Clinton say he wished the attack would have happened on his watch so he could lead us to war?

Yeh, but probably only because he had control of all the preceeding terrorist data (and Clarke, Wilson and Burgler) and it would give him a legacy other than, Travelgate, Fostergate, Browngate, Monicagate etc, etc..

Good point. That crapweasel regrets that he didn't have a war on his watch. So he gave us the next best thing, a war on the next president's watch, due to his failure to do his job instead of his interns.

I HOPE that was sarcasm, or you are a major troll.

I think Bush made a good comment, here. It refutes the idea that Bush "wanted" this war.

This brings up the heartstopping moment when I thought what it would have been like if Gore/LIEberman had been in charge.

Would LIEberman have had the instincts to recommend ALL aircraft land?

Considering the mental instability of Gore, I don't even want to contemplate his reaction.

He/she is being sarcastic... Kerry was the one who did nothing for 40 minutes and watched the Pentagon get hit.

By the end of the day the news report on Cable TV will be Pres Bush saying "Who wants to be a War time president?" and John Kerry saying in response "I do, to get bring us back in the good graces of the world" or some such blather.

Pres Bush comment will be used by Bruce Springsteen crowd to incite chants at their concerts.

Well, we know one thing FOR SURE!! He sat for 40 minutes and watched the Pentagon get hit.

What President Bush did the first 7 minutes or first 40 minutes is meaningless. Any public actions would have been symbolic. He would have been accussed of playing politics while under attack.

President Bush has been called a cowboy for taking too much action and he is accussed of not taking enough action.

The fact is that the US was attacked. President Bush responded overtly in Afghanistan and Iraq, and covertly elsewhere. The terrorists awakened a great giant and all countries around the world must accept it.

Who in heck wants to be a war president? I don't.

I won’t comment except to say that I want a president that WANTS to be a war president. I want an aggressive, enthusiastic, vicious, ball-crushing SOB that is fanatical about destroying our enemies as well as impudent/belligerent “allies.” That’d be nice.

If you are serious, I will ask you one thing.

In the moment that President had Could you have done a better job? How many terrorist flights never left the ground after he grounded all flights? I seriously doubt you have the B*lls to make all the decisions ( including shooting down airliners) under attack.
