Col. Hackworth exposed Admiral Borda. No comment on Kerry? How come?

Posted on 08/11/2004 6:59:36 AM PDT by Atlanta

It seems funny to me that the Col. has been silent on John Kerry's medal situation when in the past, he has always lead the way in exposing fraudulent medal claims such as Admiral Borda. There is nothing on his web-site, not even a scratch, concerning the current Kerry medal flap. John Kerry was in-country 4 1/2 months and won I believe the Silver Star, Bronze Star and 3 Purple Hearts. Just imagine, if he'd done at least a full year, if not a couple of tours in Vietnam, what his medal count would be! He could've possibly won the war for us...When you look at Hacks awards and citations and how fervent he has gone after medal frauds in the past, its unbelievable that he has become so partisan liberal, that he would'nt go after the possible grand-daddy of all medal frauds and at least comment on this. His silence on this subject is deafening.

Yes..it does tend to reveal his true agenda, doesn't it?

IMHO, what was done to Borda was a Hack job...and I still question the cicumstances surrounding the Admiral's "suicide".

Kerry is a fraud. You guys on the left need accept that if he wins, the descruction of the West will be Kerrys fault not Bush's. Although I think you guys will try that tack, too.

As a Vietnam vet myself, I admire Hack as he has always been there for the grunts.

But politically, the guy is a Lib. End of story.

I'm much more bothered by the fact that the major media, the alphabet networks and the major newspapers, are still spiking this story.

I have a feeling they may HAVE to break it open soon.

On they other hand, they saved Clinton's sorry ass -- didn't they!

Col. Hackworth has been a disappointment to say the least. Here we have fellow vets that have a different side of a story, and he just does not pay any attention to it. Kerry is a slug, and most Vets understand that. I do not understand how a man can make the rank of Col., and be so close minded to the facts and logic.

It just like this Capt in the Navy I knew. This guy was F-14 Pilot, then head of an F-14 squad on the JFK, and finally the only Capt in the Navy to be in charge of Aircraft carrier. The Carrier was the Ranger before it got scraped. Nevertheless, he was a liberal! It blew me away. I just do not understand that?

Isn't Hack a contributor to Fox? The Foxes and been lying low lately and perhaps he's in step with this new agenda (since the Outfoxed documentary).

My take on Hack is this. I recall during the Clinton years, he was tough on Clinton to play up to the right to sell his books and to have poeple like us on FR read his stuff.

Somebody in the Bush administration it has been noted around here has ticked Hack off. Now he is playing up to the leftist, Micheal Moore crowd for the same reasons stated above.

A windsock?

The Dmes went through Bush's war records with a fine toothed comb. The major media demanded it and published everything they could find.

The Republicans should stop acting like a bunch of capons and DEMAND that Kerry release his war records.

Did you hear that former General Shalikashvili is hospitalized up in Fort Lewis, Wash?

After hearing that speech he gave for Kerry at the DemConvention, I have no doubt it's his gall bladder.

Shalikashvili and Wesley Clark worked for Clinton. The answer may be as simple as this: they knew what side their bread was buttered on, and they didn't give a damn that it was rancid butter as long as they kept their stars.

I wish you'd leave Admiral Boorda out of this. His suicide was a tragedy to his family and his compatriots.

My husband had the honor of working with him. He was an honorable man, and after his death it was determined that he did have a right to wear the medal in question.

Hackworth's role was detestable, but please refer to the Admiral with the caveat of respect.

I agree with you. I used to read Hackworths' syndicated column, but after a short time I decided that he is bitter because he only made it to Lt. Col.. From that point on I lost interest in him.
It's true, his comments give the impression that he checks which way the wind is blowing like the war hero? Kerry.

... The Navy later argued that Boorda had indeed earned the right to wear the two

1996 Admiral Jeremy "Mike" Boorda, 56, fraudulent medal wearer, suicide       ^top^
The only sailor to climb from the lowest enlisted ranks to that of four-star Navy admiral, Boorda was about to be questioned by a reporter about his right to wear two "Valor" medals when he drove back to his home, wrote a suicide note "to my sailors," and stepped into his garden, where he fatally shot himself in the chest.
Appointed chief of naval operations by President Bill Clinton in 1994, Boorda had served on two US destroyers during the Vietnam War, and thought that this service authorized him to wear the two "V" decorations, which signified service in combat.
In 1995, after being advised by the Navy’s office of awards and special projects that he was not entitled to wear the decorations, he immediately removed them. On May 16, 1996, with Newsweek magazine about to publish an article exposing his questionable claims to combat service, Boorda killed himself. The Navy later argued that Boorda had indeed earned the right to wear the two Valor medals. http://members.xoom.virgilio.it/all42day/history/h4may/h4may16.html

Atlanta is a one-day-newbie. The post's gist doesn't seem particularly deceptive, or troll-like. Must be a lurker, come in from the cold.
