This request was made earlier, but it bears posting again. The soldiers and their families need our support. While listening to Lucianne Goldberg on the Laura Ingraham show, a caller requested help for the soldiers again. She specifically mentioned this site. During the call, she said that soldiers that are injured during duty number over 10,000. Also, she said that a number of the families who travel to medical facilities to be with their loved ones are forced to sleep in their cars as they cannot afford lodging anywhere else.
Sounded like this site and the post was worth a second look.

No, she did not, but I am sure that information about the help that is available is welcome here. I am also hopeful that the families will find out.
"How are you? things here arent going so well anymore. yesterday we had 8 mortar attacks, and today we have had 5. everyone here is expecting the worst once June 30th arrives. we actually just got back inside from a mortar attack. but luckily no one got hurt. its a good thing that they dont know how to aim the mortars or else we would be in a lot of trouble. Thanks for sending all the stuff. we all do appreciate it. Espacially one of our soldiers, SPC WARE. since he doesnt recieve any packages here. He told me to tell you thanks from the bottom of his heart. i appreciate you sending the Xbox and accesories. I can never thank you enough. this world would be a whole lot better if we had more people like you. Let TONY know i said thanks for the shirts. i know a lot of us would be happy with those shirts. Just to let you know we have recieved all your packages so far. and what is very surprising is that they have all made it in 8 days. most soldiers dont get their packages for like 2 weeks. I am planning on sending you a pic. of us in my section that way you know who is helping me help all our soldiers. i will send it later on tonight. so at this time i will say have a goodnight. i will write back to you later and send you the pics."
Well, there are more people like me. They're over here on FR. So go do it now folks, go and adopt a soldier. soldiersangels.com
They charge a $10 setup fee to weed out the nut jobs. As it turns out, one of the coordinators graduated from my high school a year behind me. She explained to me that, before the fee, some of the whack jobs were adopting soldiers and sending them pictures of dead babies. Here is the explanation in her words.. "You joined up when we first starting getting some press. A couple of weeks later we found out there was an idiot, Jimmy. He put a link to our website and told people (sick people like him) to join our foundation and start writing to soldiers and after they get their trust to start sending pictures of dead Iraqi babies. Patti the founder decided that we needed to do background checks on all of our angels. The check is basically verifying who you are and you have no criminal record. That is why there is a ten dollar fee." Lovely work by the lefties, eh?
If you'd like to help support the Combat Support Hospital I'm involved with, freep mail me and I'll give you the conatact info. It would be great to bury the hospitral in goodies from FR.
Thanks for the link - I just applied to adopt a soldier. I had also heard that on the radio this morning. We all need to pitch in!
bttt for later. Will do!
I adopted a soldier a few months back and my family is so proud to do this!!
It's exciting to take the kids shopping for our soldier and they draw pictures to send. They also donate thier beenie babies and small stuffed toys to send to give to the kids.
Also, my daughter's teachers are looking into sponsoring an Operation Crayon for the kids in Iraq and Afghanistan to get color pencils, paper and shoes.
This is a great cause and I encourage everyone to do this! It not only creates a sense of appreciation in our kids and grandkids for our military and what they sacrifice (my six year old is astounded that they don't have chocolate chip cookies over there!!! LOL), it also makes us feel like we are helping in this war in some small way.
Thanks for this. I just applied, also.
Bump for later.
I'll let you know if I get a response.
Thank you so much for posting this! I would love to "adopt" a soldier.
Bump and a bookmark and a reminder to myself to let others know about this website - thanks for posting the information!
ping to me for later
Patriciaruth also has contacts with soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan and if you'd like to support the work she's doing, which I believe includes supporting field hospitals which Mojo2001 made us aware of the need for, check with them as well.
On occasion, organizations like adoptasoldier and others "run out of soldier's names" and that is good thing but there are always other ways of supporting our warrior heroes and some of that can be done through the contacts developed right here on FR.
Just thought you'd like to know.

I just signed up. Should be interesting and hopefully helpful for one of our guys. I've been sending "blind " email for over a year but it's not the same as connecting a message with an actual person.
