Kerry charges desperation in Bush's ad
Washington Times ^ | 8/12/04 | Bill Sammon

[snip]

"This is Bush's idea of an optimistic campaign?" he said. "The president has his back against the wall, so now he invokes September 11 in his ads."
He added: "If you ever wanted proof that the Bush campaign has reached the point of desperation, now we have it."
But Mr. Kerry himself injected September 11 into the campaign last week by accusing the president of responding too slowly to news of the terrorist attacks. Specifically, the Massachusetts Democrat slammed Mr. Bush for remaining in a second-grade classroom in Florida for five minutes after learning the news.
The Bush ad was also widely questioned by journalists, including Diane Sawyer during an interview with Sen. John McCain, who spent the last two days campaigning with Mr. Bush.
"Is the president using September 11 as a political issue?" she asked on ABC's "Good Morning America."
"I think the defining event not only of this nation's history, but of this presidency was the events of 9/11," the Arizona Republican replied. "One of the reasons why so many of us are so strongly supporting his re-election is because of his moral clarity and leadership of this country post-9/11."
He added: "Should he be proud of that? I think so."

[snip]

On Friday, Mr. Kerry told National Public Radio: "I believe that within a year from now, we could significantly reduce American forces in Iraq, and that's my plan."
Yesterday, Mr. Bush criticized that plan.
"He said he is going to substantially reduce the number of troops six months after he's the president," Mr. Bush told an audience in Albuquerque. "Listen, we all want the mission to be completed as quickly as possible — but we want the mission to be completed.

Desperation is the Kerry campaign doing everything in it's power to stop the Swiftboat vets ad from airing.

Of course, Kerry could put all of the questions to rest by just releasing his records.

Everyone keeps saying that. If it's that simple (and I ask this with a child's innocence) why doesn't he just do it?

How is it desperate??

September 11 is the defining moment of his Presidency, it is the defining moment of the past 30 years IMO. How could we expect it to be ignored??

Sept. 11 and how bush responded to it is part of HIS RECORD! THATS VALID TO USE!

Ok lets do a hypathetical, what if we had 1 terrorist every month since sept 11. IF that were the case would Kerry be using that as part of his platform? He would be like President Bush cant keep us safe! Hell hes already says Sh*T like that ! lol

Seems a bit of whining from the Frencharian ya think?

Maybe it's because his Vietnam-War boats going down the tubs drain?

9/11 happened, Bush has worked and come up with ways in preventing it. Pretty sure eventually things will be even more safer.

With Kerry though? His love of the UN/French/Germans/Ru ssians?Safer is defined as being comforted, at least till we're hit again. NO KERRY EVER!

How did he "use 9/11" in his ad? I recall a half second of rubble footage, nothing more.

9/11 is the pivot point upon which the *rest* of our history is going to swing.
That is the cold, hard truth.
Nothing is ever going to be same.
The lib/dems need to get a grip on reality and deal with the facts.

Bush could run an ad consisting only of the sentence "George W. Bush is the Republican Candidate for President and he'd like your vote" in white letters on a black background and the band of lawyers would call it desparate.

Threatening legal armaggedden against any TV station that runs an ad by an opposing 527 group...that's desperation.

Sending surrogates out to declare that, while John Kerry did have an experience seared into his memory, it may or may not have been of Christmas 1968; it may or may not have been in Cambodia, near Cambodia, or fifty miles from Cambodia; and it may or may not have involved CIA operatives, Navy SEALS, the French Foreign Legion , or the Mossad....that's desperation.

Removing the holy wafer from Lanny Davis's lying mouth so he could creep back out of the Clinton Legacy Crypt to present what could laughably be called the DNC's response to the Swift Vets...that's desperation.

Well, I guess it's time to break out.... THE FLIGHTSUIT PHOTOS! After all, they said we would! And we're desperate! ;o)

So, it's ok for Kerry to try to use 9/11 against President Bush (criticizing the 7 minutes of the President's "inaction" in a Florida schoolroom, although that backfired BIGTIME on Kerry), but the President isn't allowed to mention 9/11?

Nice try, but no cigar, Kerry.

Exactly. I'd call a case of Freudian "projection." We all know which campaign is desperate. To think John F*ckin' is whining Bush is hurting him bad?? Poor baby!

You can always tell when a demmie is desperate.

How?

He brings up an issue, the republican responds....and the dem calls this response a "sign of desperation".

Freerepublic member charges Kerry campaign with desperation for charging Bush administration with desperation. I think the desperate one is the one who is losing ground right now and is having a very very very bad week and soon to be an even worse election. Mr. Kerry, may you lose this election worse than Mr. Mondale. Also, please resign your position as a senator, if you've not done it already... I ask you this because "YOU SUCK!!"

Desperation is the Kerry campaign

Desperation is sending a silver-haired Dem. spinner onto FoxNews to explain why Kerry didn't know where he was during his 'CHRISTMAS IN CAMBODIA': "It's a very watery area and there's no sign that says 'Welcome to Cambodia' ... it's very dark up there and at dusk you can't see anything. ... the memory was seared into him, it's just the details and dates on which he's fuzzy" . That's priceless! That's a keeper.
