Sorry, I believe that there are 2 pages, look at the same section on page 2. The first is his 214 for end of enlisted service and beginning of Officer commission following OCS. This is normal. The second page lists his awards while serving as a commissioned officer. The 2 DD214s is normal in that the first ends the enlisted contract so that the commission can take affect.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You are absolutely right. Looks like my enlisted discharge from OCS. Page 2 lists his awards.

This is clearly an interim DD214, not his final one. Notice the total service time listed. It's much less than his total time in service. This was issued very early in his time in the Navy. It looks like a 'change-of-status' release when he went from one type of reserve status to another.
