McCullough: MORE TO MCGREEVEY THAN MEDIA IS REPORTING
WMCA-NY ^ | 8.12.2004

Editorial - Mr. Golan Cipel is filing a sexual harrassment lawsuit today against the Governor. This lawsuit will no doubt delve into some particularly ugly aspects of what happens when a sexually permissive Governor brings on a staff member who in the opinion of voters, and legislators is not qualified to serve in his post.

Mr. Cipel did not have the level of clearance necessary to even allow him to attend Homeland Security briefings for the Federal Government yet McGreevey had hired him better than two years ago as the New Jersey Homeland Security director.

It gets more interesting...Mr. Cipel, when he had resigned his post as New Jersey Homeland Security Director went to work for Charles Kushner who was formerly the chief fund raiser for McGreevey. Kushner was indicted 3 weeks ago on corruption charges in a case involving a New Jersey farm deal in which it is reported that McGreevey would speak in code with the owner of the farm to indicate his decision on which way he was leaning. The indictment stated that the Governor would use terms from Machiavelli. On three seperate occassions the feds wired up the farms owner and captured audio of McGreevey doing just that.

What is unclear is...

Did Mr. Kushner - who already had a history of sending prostitutes to people as a way of entrapment and blackmail - decide to turn the sex wedge against McGreevey in exchange for the Governor refusing to pardon him in the federal investigation? Certainly with Cipel working with Kushner the idea and goods would have been known and discussed in terms of ways that kind of plot could be pulled off...

Kushner is also a heavy fundraiser for Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, and has even raised funds for John Kerry...

Remember: politics is ALWAYS local. This is simply a NJ story, and maybe limited within the state. I really doubt it will have a national impact on the POTUS race.

The "cover story" maybe local, but what it's covering up is the ugly sore on society that is the Democratic Party underground!

Mark my words - McGreevy is close to being indicted. Remember this phrase:

It's just about an adult consensual relationship with a man (sex).

It's really just about putting the scandal in the best light for the Democrats and hiding the ball.

I would agree with you except for one thing: an Israeli spy would never blow his own cover by filing a sexual harassment lawsuit.

But a gay (submissive partner) Israeli spy might very well be bitchy enough to want to hurt an ex-lover, especially if he's also being blackmailed by this Kushner guy.

Doubtful. Spies who blow their cover often wind up dead, and certainly aren't welcome back in their home countries.

Yeah -- I kinda discount the spy thing anyway. But the bitchy "submissive partner scorned and blackmailed" part sounds about right to me.

Poor ol' Cipel came over here like a war bride.... Or perhaps Lorena Bobbit (mail-order variety) is a better comparison....

That makes sense to me. With an honest and aggressive federal prosecutor and an abundance of targets, the NJ scandals should have a long and entertaining run -- provided Bush is reelected. If not, the Kerry Justice Department will shut it down, with the news media running stories about the ordeal of poor, tormented bisexual Jim McGreevey.

"Still gotta wonder how much of the Timing of the announcement has to do with TRYING TO TAKE ATTENTION AWAY FROM THE SWIFT VET ISSUE. "

"In politics, there are no coincidences." (FDR, I think)"

The 'rats' know they are cornered on the Swiftboat Vet issue and find it impossible to come up with a viable defense. Therefore, when there are only seconds left on clock, it's time to PUNT!

McGreedy is the football -- but it remains to be seen if he is going to sail between the goalposts. I don't think the networks will be going any further on the Swiftboaters. Good timing, McGreedy!

Mr. Cipel did not have the level of clearance necessary to even allow him to attend Homeland Security briefings for the Federal Government yet McGreevey had hired him better than two years ago as the New Jersey Homeland Security director.

What is especially shocking about this is McGreevy hired Cipel in the immediate aftermath of 9/11/01. His state, New Jersey (the state of my birth), lost hundreds of residents on that awful day. Thousands of New Jersey residents commute to NYC to work every day. And this prick, McGreevey, is playing games with their lives. This has to rank among the worst betrayals of the public trust ever by an elected official in American history.

While home for lunch, I happened to catch Pat Buchanan on MSNBC prattling on about how gracious McGreevy was and how well he handled "it." Good Lord! When will the chattering classes get it?! Terrorism is no game. Those four hijackings weren't some Hollywood movie. Thousands of real human beings died, leaving tens of thousands of family members to grieve. Our financial and airline systems were brought to their knees. If the terrorists had been able to carry off even a few more attacks around the country that same day or within a few days later, it may have taken us many years to recover.

When the whole story is known, it will be shown that Mr. Golan Cipel is but the tip of the McGreevy viceberg.

...Would now be a terribly inconvenient time to recall that when Monica Lewinsky was moved to the Pentagon, her new position put her 27th in command?
