After Crossfire and Hardball Tonight, is There Any Question Remaining? The Media is the Real Enemy.
The Media is the Real Enemy ^ | 8-12-04 | Bob J

Posted on 08/12/2004 9:40:42 PM PDT by Bob J

On the 5th I posted an article title The Media is the Real Enemy - Watch Media Reaction to the Swift Boat Vets Story and be Convinced!. After observing what has happened since and in particular the performance typified by Crossfire and Hardball tonight, is there any question remaining that our primary activism objective needs to be defeating the media hegemony that nourishes the beast?

I've been involved in FReeper activism beginning way back with the March for Justice in '98. I now believe my energies have been nothing but shadow boxing. Every single action that we have undertaken against groups or individuals can trace their existence to an adoring dim media that creates them, props them up and then protects them from damage through propaganda, misdirection and lies.

I think it's time we redirect our efforts to the source that creates, sustains and drives liberalism.

Comments and suggestions?

Well, this old nag is headed for bed now. All this frustrates me to no end. I've been at it since the early '60's and it seems that with every year that passes, the more ignorant (read: lazy and apathetic) the electorate gets.

I'll check back in the morning. Hang in there!

JR started up the Republican Liberty Caucus Forum here at FR some time ago.

He likes their libertarian position on many issues.

There are many good libertarian positions, the problem is they have a lousy plan on implemening it. Instead of changing the hearts and minds of Americans they seem to be hell bent on destroying the pub party...as if that will achieve their goals.

BTW - This thread is about the media, let's try to keep it on subject and not hijack it to libertarian island.

BTW - No offense, but Jim didn't start up the Libertarian Forum, it was started after a request by a few FReepers. I believe Jim would be dead set against your proposition that salvation lies with the Libertarian party at this point in history.

I'm not smashng libertarianism. I think they have some very good and idealistic positions, but right now I'll stick with trying to change the pub party, they're the game in town.

Yes, that's fine. The Republican Liberty Caucus promotes electing Republicans and defeating Democrats. I'm in complete agreement.

Yes, as you've said, you're in complete agreement with electing Republicans and defeating Democrats.

But are you in basic agreement with the positions of the Republican Liberty Caucus?

America needs a John Madden type figure to give insight as to what's taking place on the field. Exposing the left's weaknesses as well as the rights, but in a manner all would find acceptable.

An X's and O's guy who could describe how both sides are relying too heavily on the run (socialism) and not taking advantage of the long bomb (capitalism). "Kerry steps back and hands-off to Affirmative Action." "The ball is fumbled and scooped up by Tax Cut." "We have a turnover, folks." "When it's third-and-long, handing off to Affirmative Action is about the stupidest thing you could do as a President".

"Hey, that's one ugly cheerleader over there, what's her name?" "Michael Moore?" "Git out'a here!"

I see more detrimental bias in the news reporting services, such as AP, Reuters, and especially those little hourly news blips on the radio, like CBS-radio, ABC-radio, etc.

Those little news reports are awful. Here you are listening to a great radio show, Hewitt, or Medvid, or Hannity, and the hourly news girl comes on with a totally distorted bass-ackwards distorted slanted news report.

It drives me nuts.

To me, Hardball and Crossfire are more of a discussion of the news. They start with a totally distorted picture of the news BECAUSE of the reporting services.

Fox News is great. But if someone REALLY wants to make a change, they should start a fair and balanced worldwide news reporting service.

When a supporter asked President Bush about scrapping the current tax code and replacing it with a national sales tax, he replied favorably: "I'm not exactly sure how big the national sales tax is going to have to be, but it's the kind of interesting idea that we ought to explore seriously."

Since then, White House spokesmen have not ruled out the idea. Nor have they ruled out that Bush may announce a big new initiative on the tax system at the Republican convention.

Scrap the tax code? Bush floats a national sales tax.

A serious effort to abolish the IRS & institute a Fair Tax Act, would get my vote.

The market hasn't touched the secondary educational system much.

Nor is it likely to in the near future since federal grants pay for so much of it.

I am absolutely seething at this moment! ABC News' Primetime has just aired a segment with Patti Davis (acting as if she is a legitimate journalist), and was talking to these teenage girls with Juvenile Diabetes who got involved in the Senate hearings on embryonic stem cell research.

They showed footage of President Bush's response of approving funding for stem-cell research, but limiting embryonic research to those that were already created. Immediately afterward, they cut away to the parents of one of the teens, who said they felt sick after Bush all but said "I'm going to take years off your daughter's life."

They gathered three of the teens in front of a camera in one of their bedrooms, and sneered at Bush's compromise (remember, the fear among many was that he would ban stem-cell research completely) while gushing over how Orrin Hatch was 'a conservative who put everything on the line" for them. And then, they started talking about how wonderful Nancy was for championing embryonic research. In turn, Patti -- wearing an unflattering sleeveless peach-colored blouse -- gushed over the teens for their activism in support of a miracle cure.

I have seen a lot of obviously slanted schtuff over the past few weeks, but this took the cake. This was worse than anything I have seen aimed at the Swift Vets, because this was unprovoked. It was a broadside straight from the Kerry campaign laundered as "news" from a non-journalist.

Thank God for Free Republic, where I can vent instead of breaking something!

They keep the race "interesting", at least. Without the media handicap, Kerry'd be toast.

Just remember: We're running even now. We've a convention and a couple of debates forthcoming. Don't lose heart. Think how good it will feel to have these hateful serpents silenced after Nov. 2.

Frankly, what I'm seeing reminds me of the multitudes worshipping the Beast of Revelation.
