Please wake up, America! It's time we put John Kerry into proper perspective. Although I realize the Democratic Party is anxious to find a leader who will move them back into the White House and in control of Congress, John Kerry is not the right man! He's extremely dangerous, and his campaign is based on a lot of half-truths.
I was in Vietnam operating a swift boat along the Vietnamese coast with hundreds of other Coast Guard and Navy crewmen. Virtually all Coast Guard and Navy boat crews were volunteers. For most of us, it was a frustrating time, because we were not allowed to take the fight to the heart of the enemy in North Vietnam.
For more than seven years, 95 percent of our military were in-country for at least 360 days. The exceptions were those killed or wounded in action. I understand Kerry's band-aid wounds allowed him to leave after only four months, which was barely enough time to know the area.
Kerry drove a 55-foot swift boat (designed after the Gulf oil-rig supply boats) up the rivers because these boats wouldn't go offshore during the monsoon season. Normally, river operations were limited to the smaller PBRs. He was a cowboy, as many boat operators were, firing into free-fore areas hoping to stir up the enemy in order to get a catch.
His operations were typical except for the crew member who fell off his boat and had to be rescued. Guess who would have been blamed if he hadn't gotten his crew back intact? A hero? Not exactly! He did his job, but left very early and started his political career on the backs of the American military left in Vietnam.
His testimony before Congress about the raping and pillaging by our forces against the poor South Vietnamese people was unbelievable. He did not provide one shred of evidence; just unsubstantiated wild tales. Instead of pushing the Congress and the administration to take the fight to the enemy in Hanoi, he led the fight to abandon the South Vietnamese people after America had promised to help them establish a democracy.
Kerry's actions, based on lies and innuendos, were instrumental in America, for the first time in its history, running away from an enemy. What a shameful action! We certainly don't want a repeat of that decision in Iraq.
Unfortunately, this is Kerry's approach to national defense. He thinks of himself as a leader, ready to defend American interests as long as it is OK'd by the international community. This is a dangerous approach for America with so many countries jealous of our wonderful democracy and bent on trying to destroy us.
I also wonder why Kerry's Senate record is never mentioned by his campaign. What has he done in the last 19 years as a senator? If you're trying for a new position, usually you have to demonstrate accomplishments, beyond mere experiences, that qualify you for the job. We're not told anything about the significant bills he's gotten passed, what leadership roles he's held, or what management roles he's played. Are we to select a president without understanding of what he's accomplished? All we hear is, "He's a war hero and has experience to be president."
Wow! What experience?
We know he voted with the Clinton administration to cut the U.S. military in half, to reduce Reagan's military buildup from a 600-ship Navy to a 300-ship Navy, and has voted against virtually every new aircraft design and armament system since 1984. Looking at the record, there's no doubt John Kerry's a pacifist. Don't kid yourself. He may have been a John Wayne in Vietnam for a few months to make a name for himself, but his actions since have been bent on keeping America at home at any price.
The United Nations is his steadfast answer. The fate of America under the Kerry leadership will be totally in the hands of the United Nations. Needless to say, we would not have gone into Afghanistan or Iraq after 9/11 under a Kerry presidency. Instead, we'd have gone to the U.N. and talked a while. Ouch!
There is little doubt Sen. Kerry is also a very liberal Democrat. His voting record reflects his focus on social legislation. He favors an immediate increase in taxes with a push toward socialized medicine. Remember, he fully supported Mrs. Clinton's proposed medical program for every American when President Clinton took office, at an estimated $2 trillion. I think it's about time the media informed America about Kerry's voting record.
Although I was a registered Democrat while in the military, I'm very thankful President Bush was in the White House to respond to 9/11 both in Afghanistan and Iraq. Whether you agreed with him or not about Iraq, there's no doubt every terrorist group in the Middle East has ended up in Iraq fighting the coalition of 31 nations instead of fighting in an American city.
They know we have a president who is not afraid to act! President Bush also reduced taxes when it was needed to bring us out of the recession after the '90s balloon finally burst. The country economically is now moving in the right direction. While the war against terrorism has a long way to go, I'll trust President Bush to keep us going to the heart of the enemy for the next four years.
Now, wake up, America, and take a long hard look at John Kerry before the voting begins!
What is that?
A snake in the grass?
I just want to know why it is that nobody has ever just said, "Hey... Just because you did something 30 years ago that awarded you a medal does NOT mean that you're not a scumbag now..."
Try to remember that Timothy McVey was awarded a bronze star too...

Is this guy a Freeper?? He should be.
Good point!
Bump!
If he is, they'll try to discredit him by saying he once said something unkind about Hillary.
Very good observation. Part of Bush's strategery.
Benedict Arnold was a hero too, until he turned traitor.
Fact and fiction: Did Kerry make it to Cambodia?
" Finally, concerning the assertion that Mr. Kerry was shot at by the Khmer Rouge during his Christmas 1968 visit to Cambodia, it should be noted that the Khmer Rouge didn't take the field until the Easter Offensive of 1972, when the Vietnamese forces that had attacked the Cambodians initially in March 1970 pulled out of Cambodia to attack the U.S. and Vietnamese forces in Vietnam. Only Vietnamese Communist soldiers were found on the battlefields of Cambodia in 1970-72. "
Thanks! I missed that article.
Yup.
Wake up America!
Ever listen to Earl Pitts? We hear his bit on a morning radio show. He always starts out with "Wake up America!"
bttt
LIBERALS don't deal in facts. Lies are their stock in trade.
Excellent point! If not for his heroic acts at Lake Champlaign, the Continental Army could very well have lost the war!
