Only one team showed up to play in the first half.

This collection of talented players doesn't stand a chance against a talented team. It was no fluke that team USA finished in 6th place in last year's world championships.

Predictable.

This bunch stinks. We'd be better served with a talented group of amateurs who learned to play as a team. (Of course that's almost unheard of in the U.S. any longer.)

Look on the bright side. Puerto Rico is part of the United States. We support them, train them, and allow them to march into the Olympics under their own banner and flag.

China throws a hissy fit and won't allow Taiwan, for which it offers nothing but hostility, to do any of these things.

If Puerto Rico goes on to win this basketball game and enough more games for a medal, it will be almost the same as a victory for the United States.

This is what you get when a governing body picks players, no coach input and you think you can just field a team of the guys selling the most in jersey sales and go over and beat the world.
Welcome to reality USA Basketball.
This is the game we USED to play here. Pick and Rolls are now defined in Europe.
This is embarassing for a game that we have absolutely owned.
Next Olympics at least send the college all-stars, at least they play like they care.
To a man, USA Basketball governing body should resign after this Olympics and rethink this NBA-lite approach to international basketball.

Any team with Allan Iverson on it is doomed to failure.

Team USA Basketball is an amalgam of political correctness. Simply put, White Basketball players need not apply. Get used to the idea that Europeans or Africans will continue to beat Team USA.

The NBA may well be the worst professional sports league in our nation. It is filled with nothing but hip-hop hype. I hate to hear that any team representing our nation is losing.

I root for the US to lose, and he's one of the main reason why. Go Puerto Rico. Go whoever is playing the US b-ball team (as long as NBA players are on the team).

Iverson has a way of pissing off the entire team with his "I'm the greatest" attitude.

Yup, I saw that but have not yet figured out the reasoning or the new headline.

Well, having NBA players in the Olympics isn't wrong for the simple reason that they are professionals. It is because NBA basketball has totally bastardized the sport -- they travel halfway down the court without getting called, their talent is measured by the spectacular nature of their dunks, etc etc.

It is like having Hulk Hogan enter the greco-roman wrestling competition. This is pretty much a foregone conclusion.

Why post a spoiler warning? It's live on TV in the US.

This is what happens when the collective basketball talent in the US learns ALL that it knows about the game from the 5 second snippets of somebody showboating every night on ESPN.

What happened to the FUNDAMENTALS of the game? They seem to have been forgotten!
