Sen. Intel Chief Calls on Kerry to Release Records

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Pat Roberts called on Sen. John Kerry to release his Intelligence Committee attendance records on Sunday - as controversy swirled over claims that the top Democrat was mostly a no-show during important hearings.

"The easiest way out of this is for John Kerry and John Edwards to request [Committee Vice Chairman] Sen. Rockefeller and myself to release the attendance [records]," Roberts told NBC's "Meet the Press." Roberts urged that any Kerry record release should cover "not only of the public hearings, which they have rebutted, but the closed hearings," adding, "It is important, because you have to be in attendance to learn the job."

The Kerry campaign has acknowledged that the Massachusetts Democrat missed scores of public hearings, but insisted he attended "private" sessions and is a "hard-working" member of the Intelligence Committee.

Asked if the "hard-working" description was accurate, Sen. Roberts declined to back Kerry up.

"Well, 'hard-working member' is in the eyes of the beholder," he told "Meet the Press."

A Bush Cheney campaign commercial set to debut on Monday accuses Kerry of being absent for 76 percent of the Intelligence Committee's hearings, noting that he was completely AWOL for the entire year after the 9/11 attacks.

"That same year," the ad says, "Sen. Kerry proposed slashing the intelligence budget by $6 billion."

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Jane Harman, who appeared on "Meet the Press" with Roberts, said she couldn't defend Kerry's Intelligence Committee attendance record.

"I don't know what the facts are and I really can't speak to that," she explained.

McCain is practically the only one that's come out to defend Kerry, and he's campaigning for Bush!

FLIP FLOP KERRY

The truth is, that describes his whole approach to life and politics

The man personifies the word "liar"

I didn't think I would ever discover someone who did that better than the 'Toon, but I was wrong.

Release ALL your records, Mr.Kerry!

Actually, I think Newsmax is reporting it wrong. He missed all meetings after the first attack on the world trade center in the early 90s. That's when he wanted to gut the intelligence budget.

This will be a great ad since two of you have miinterpreted the ad already. He was absent in the year after the first trade center attacks is what the ad says not after 9/11.

It's good to have multiple bites at him. One on top of another to paint the entire picture of who Kerry isn't.

I dont trust McCain as far as I could throw him. any man who spent time in a Viet Cong prison camp while Kerry was working with Jane Fonda , then comes out and gets in the Senate and goes with Kerry to Hanoi to look for POW's and MIA's then comes home with Kerry after doing nothing but finfing lucrative contracts for Kerrys cousin, Then this phony Campaign Finance reform that plays into the hands of George Soros and company. No I dont know what McCain is up to but it isnt good for Republicans and it isnt good for the country.

An unnamed offical said that Kerry missed some of those meetings because he was in Cambodia meeting with certain world leaders who told him that they would vote for him as President if they could.

and have you caught that little Budhist salute with the hands together....My cousin is in to that and I knew what he was doing the second I saw it....Most Americans would be upset if they realized Kerry is giving an Islamic salute

Kerry is fine specimen with his sharp tongue, throwing barbs at President GWBush. John Kerry was one of the laziest, most self indulgent Senators. He had no record of leadership there yet he wants to lead the United States.

Lord keep him from the Presidency.
