Welsh to ban strippers in limousines
Reuters ^ | August 17, 2004

Strippers and pole dancers should be banned from performing in stretch limousines, according to a British report.

Councillors from the mountainous Welsh county of Gwynedd said many limousine hire companies were providing the erotic dancers as entertainment for clients, but in-car striptease was an "inappropriate" activity.

"Lately, stretch limousines have been used more and more," said the report, released on Tuesday.

"Some operators are providing entertainment to clients within the vehicle which may involve inappropriate activities such as lap dancing, giving rise to concerns about indecency."

The new proposals recommend a blanket ban on striptease, lap dancing, pole dancing and "any other activity or performance of a like kind".

The concern might be that it's easier to cross the line between stripping and prostitution in the privacy of a limo than in a strip club.

So much for hiring a stripper to come into someone's HOUSE for a bachelor party.

Looks like there's just enough space for a champagne room in the back.

Strippers who are willing to do private parties like that tend to be the ones who are willing to have sex for money.

Of course, whether that should be against the law is a reasonable question. I have no problems with legalizing prostitution.

Sex is the only thing I can think of that is legal to give away for free, but illegal to charge money for.

"That all depends on what the definition of sex is. When my wife strips down for bed, sex is the LAST thing on my mind."

If we consider this stripper law, couples can still be "indecent" in the back of a limo as well.

Prostitution laws carried more weight when there were also fornication laws and a center for disease control that was interested in contacting those who had sex with someone infected with a venereal disease.

It isn't the financial aspect of prostitution that makes it a crime. You can pay someone cash to cut your lawn or babysit your kids with no government intrusion.

Ban back seats

While we are at it, take out the back row in the movie theaters. Oh, wait. That just means a different row becomes the back row, well take that one out too...

I'm not sure I follow. Other than the exchange of money, every activity involved in prostitution is legal. There is no law preventing a person from having sex with as many partners as they want. However, the minute money enters the equation, it becomes a crime.

Pole dancing in a limo? What are they, stripper midgets?

No. The midgets are employed in their rental fleet of Mini Coopers:

I disagree - there are laws against adultery, sodomy, etc. in many districts. The laws are just not enforced. Not saying right or wrong, just saying.

Exactly and since the financial argument is also a hollow charge, in light of the sodomy law ruling (privacy) there IS NO CONSTITUTIONAL BASIS for laws against prostitution.

Unless they are going to start cracking down on babysitters to firm up their monetary excuse.
