Chieftain did a wonderful job, doubtlessly there were many people there who saw the face of a man who feels honest betrayal.
The one thing that sticks in my mind the most is when the one man told the story about General Giap giving credit for the NVA victory to the American protestors, the people in the hall didn't know whether to cheer or boo. Surely there were people there who are glad the US lost, including a retired Naval officer representing the Sierra club, who stated that "the United States is the country of death". Not only that, but one fat slob actually disputed the notion that the Vietnam war had anything to do with the defeat of the Soviet Union.
God save us if these people get control...

very interesting, your catch about the conflicting messages they're emitting. The key to a disciplined political campaign is to have a simple message that reaches out to voters. In this case they're trying to propagate a lie that doesn't even sit very well with Kerry's anti-war / anti-US supporters.
