Fast-food rage spurs arrests of 3 teens

A forgotten cheeseburger sent two McDonald's drive-through patrons into a rage Friday.

The pair stormed into the West St. Paul restaurant, loudly cursed at the staff about the botched order and later allegedly clubbed an intervening customer with a baseball bat.

Dakota County prosecutors on Monday charged Miguel Hernandez, 18, and Michael Anthony Lee, 19, with a felony — making terroristic threats.

It's the second fast-food rage case to come across Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom's desk this week. A confrontation with a customer in an Arby's drive-through in Burnsville the same day landed Robert Chan Nguyen, 19, in jail, charged with second-degree felony assault.

Manila Shaver, deputy police chief in West St. Paul, said citizens who witness a loud public dispute, such as occurred at the McDonald's, are left with a difficult choice.

A friend once threw down a half eaten big mac and my German Shepard walked over, sniffed it and walked away.

I was actually behind a guy at a McD's drive through a few years ago who leaped out of his car, confronted the guy who was in the car ahead, and decked him. I guess the guy in front hadn't moved up quickly enough to suit the other one, not sure what set it off. They both got their respective orders and drove off without further incident. It was bizarre, to say the least, and the restaurant workers didn't seem surprised when I recounted it to them, since it had taken place out of their line of sight.

We should prepare ourselves for:

bathroom rage
report card rage
bill rage
garbage day rage
lawnmower rage
stubbed-toe rage...

Bottom line is that the liberal media is trying to portray fits of violence as some sort of clinical condition instead of criminal behavior.

It was not too long ago that I was honked at at a drive thru...

What did they expect me to do?

I don't condone this but could see how it could happen.

I went to A Wendy's for take out for the family. I ordered 4 Spicy Chicken Combos and drove home. When I got home I was missing one of the Sandwiches. I went back and waited and went to the drive up window. When I got to the window the person I complained to said" Oh, are you the guy who left without one of his sandwiches?"

If I had a bat I might have gone after him too.

Re: Being honked at in drive-through:

I know, what is the point of that?? The worst is if you are at the speaker and nobody takes the order, does everyobe behind you figure you're just sitting there for the heck of it? I could see a honk if somebody is sitting there reading the paper and not moving forward at all despite several car lengths open in front.

Many people in the drive-through line are short on patience and time in the first place, so I guess they get out of control easily. I often just want a cold drink, and it's become not worth it to do the drive through.

Yeah, I looked in my rear view mirror, and it was clear theg uy was honking at me, not at the employees.

He was making all sorts of hand gestures, and seemed to be cursing loudly.

Like I was just sitting there because I had nothing better to do.

The idea behind honking at a drive-thru is not that they are honking at the drivers, they are honking at the nim-wits inside who are busy chatting about last night's date, rather than working busily to prepare the meals to go.

From what I've experienced, when one honks, everybody starts honking and that typically gets the manager's attention and he puts a fire under his employee's feet.

I NEVER use the drive up. They always get my order wrong. I go inside, even when I'm in a hurry.

Not long back the wife started ranting and raving insisted I stop at a McDonalds and get her a hamburger. I pulled in and She said, "Don't you want one?" I said "No."

When we left, I went 100 yards and pulled into a SONIC and ordered me a GOOD burger. She got so mad! "Why didn't you tell me YOU were going to sonic?" she demanded.
"You insisted I pull into a McDonald's and get YOU a burger, so I did."
I love making her mad by doing exactly what she wants.

The rage cuts both ways. I remember hearing of an African American McD's drive through waitperson who absolutely hated white cops. When one came through with a sundae order, she slopped half of the outside of the container in chocolate syrup, handed it out to him clean side visible, then slammed the window shut.
