Simple. Before leaving, he made sure those who support him got transferred to less life-threatening posts. And now he's collecting his due.

Look at Thurlow - he didn't even realize that the after action report said his medal was received after being fired upn, and it seems that the after action report came from Kerry's lies...

I know from personal experience that record-keeping was not the best in Vietnam. And as for correcting things, that is also difficult.
But there is a worthy question here: when did the error occur, and what was on the original document?

Supposedly he had a bronze star and 'converted it' to a silver star under some program or such.
If his bronze star had a V on it, he'd have stuck that on his Silver Star.
His dd214 would have been changed to show the medal replacement.
Someone got sloppy on it.
Another alternative - they're all still living under the same FALSE HEROICS and DECORATIONS..
Kerry MUST have some hook in their noses.. time will reveal all, I believe....
Kerry may have recommended decorations for his crew that were as fraudulent as his own...
Kerry's "Band of Brothers" is more like the lying "gang of 4"..

Yes, where is that weasel Lehman who was happy to grill Condi and others as they appeared before the worthless 9/11 Commission? He is laying very low since surely someone will ask him how that glowing citation was issued 17 years after the Viet Nam War. He has some tall explaining to do.

Kerry is the only person in American history that recieved a Silver Star with a combat "V". The combat "V" is not authorized with the silver star for ordinary heros I guess.
The one way to clear this up is to look at a picture of him with his medal on. It must exist somewhere. If it has the V - it was probably intentional.

Bronze Star may be awarded for meritorious service (no device attached). It may also be awarded for valor (V device attached).

We don't know the whole story about why he got to leave so early. Could have been some "talk" about fragging him - source who started the talk unknown. Who knows how much he valued his precious skin in those days? Who can plumb the depth of his lack of honor?
