WASHINGTON, Aug. 20 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Kerry-Edwards campaign spokesman Chad Clanton released the following statement today about the new Swift Boat Veterans for Bush ad:

"This is another ad from a front group funded by Bush allies that is trying to smear John Kerry. The newest ad takes Kerry's testimony out of context, editing what he said to distort the facts. He testified as a 27 year-old Vietnam veteran. He opposed a war that, at that point, cost over 44,000 lives of the 58,245 names that are on the Vietnam Memorial wall. It says a lot that the President refuses to condemn this smear. The American people want to hear how we're going to cut health care costs and strengthen the economy, not smears."

Dang! Right on schedule. OK. A couple of you called it. Someone owes someone a beer.

"He was just young and foolish, blah blah."

No dice. That ad is DEVESTATING. Sheilds up they are in full defense mode now. That was the quickest response to an ad (Hell! The only response to a political ad I can think of) ever.

This response would be funny if it weren't so tragic.

I like the way Kerry's career is being shown in chronological order.

Next up Lt. Governor Kerry signs an Executive Order in the 1980's prohibiting Massachusetts Civil Defense from planning for a nuclear attack.

"Kerry's testimony out of context, editing what he said to distort the facts"

Okay, so what was the warm and fuzzy context that would mitigate his lies, accusations and admissions?

Running scared.

His testimony is in his own words
and all the Heinz ketchup in the world
cannot make them palatable.

LOL!

There are holes in the boat. It is sinking fast. The river is filled with crocodiles. Hillary is not coming to the rescue. Say goodnight, John.

The newest ad takes Kerry's testimony out of context,

Then put it IN context, Senator. Roll the entire speech for the country to see.

I watched the ad; it matches the testimony to a T.

Amazing that, for months, Kerry thought it was fine to sit back and watch Democratic 527 groups actually go so far as to compare President Bush to Hitler but let one ad finally come out against him and he is whining about how George is refusing to stop the bullys who are picking on him. This is the big baby that we want to represent our nation. Yeah - that'll bring us respect. Imagine having him whine that Osama just isn't playing fair!

That's one weak press release. They tried to say too many things and it makes them appear to be flailing and wounded.

Shrum's lost it. Next we'll see the Kerry Campaign in a personnel shake up.

... Who, as he reminded the Senators in the same testimony, had been in Paris as part of the VVAW's separate "negotation" with the VC and North Vietnam. IIRC, he recommended to the Senate this thinly disguised surrender as a model for the US government's own (rather more binding) negotation. Some context the Swiftees left out there! So flattering to Kerry!

He testified as a 27 year-old Vietnam veteran.

His age did not give him the right to lie while we had POWs.

Through the abuse President Bush was taking he always shrugged it off saying it was the political season.

I called the number above of the Kerry people. They answered "press office" or something like that.

I ask them if this was the place where you give money to help support the Swift boat add the veterans are running about Kerry.

He opposed a war that, at that point, cost over 44,000 lives of the 58,245 names that are on the Vietnam Memorial wall.

And how many of those 14,245 remaining lives were lost as a result of Kerry's traitorous testimony? For what portion of the increased public opposition to the Vietnam war does he bear responsibility? What might have been the end result of this war had he not done what he did?

He and his type (Dan Rather) make my blood boil, and he has now opened old wounds by claiming to be heroic, using his service as a campaign issue. By doing so, he just opened himself up to be lambasted by all those who thought the war didn't end as it should.
