Blitzer: Tom Harkin said about Cheney.....

Dole: Harkin is one to talk.....he chose to hideout in Japan and then claim is was a Vietnam vet.

Blitzer: That's another issue entirely...let's take a look at what Harkin said.

Blitzer may as well have had fingers in both ears while singing la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la

"Kerry's young age at the time.......?" He was 27 years old...well past the age of accountability, or so I was taught at age 12.

George Will just said a documentaty is being produced, apparently by SBVT, that is 28 minutes long, that will give legs to the Kerry-POW issue, scheduled for release in September.

Aha! I just asked about this on a previous post. I saw George say that.

Will had the look in his eye and the sound in his voice that said that that 28 minutes would be the stake in Kerry's self-absorbed, arrogant, delusional heart! And George Will is REAL smart and on the INSIDE of things!

I agree, that will kill Kerry's chances!

Totally agree with you. Dole has been a stand-up guy. I love how he said he served 14 years with Kerry in the Senate and can't think of one bill that came through with his name on it.

Bob Dole has dignity. When he says Kerry should apologize for what he said in front of the Senate in '71 AND should release his records to settle this matter, he's smooth and very effective. All this while saying he considers Kerry a friend.

Just heard a new Kerry ad on WABC radio. He mentions the men dying in Iraq, blah blah blah and finishes by saying that the President is too busy getting people to attack Kerry's viet service......

I am paraphrasing...but it's putting all the blame on Bush.

Has anyone heard from McCain about him being in the Kerry ads? I wonder what his office is saying...

I think he's pretty sure that the Swift Boat Vets for Truth stole the strawberries. All he needs is two steel marbles.

Bob Dole, shocked me, I tell you, shocked me today.
He is AWESOME, I think his words stunned wolfie.
Wish I could see it again, I was overwhelmed at his truths coming out, very devastating, the media CANNOT scream at him, wish he would go on chrissy, LOL.

Bush doesn't need a photo op, he can do this quietly, and quite frankly, that's more his style ANYway.

I agree Bush does not need a photo op, but many who pay hardly any attention to what is going on and vote anyway live and breathe photo ops.

Some details (he's on and they're going to talk convention. Ack! Dole gives Kerry the edge).

But speaking about the Kerry issue Dole said he had warned Kerry about not going too far in making his Vietnam service the cornerstone of his campaign.

Dole said he has problems with the purple hearts Kerry has as he understands they were scratches and minor and the "3 phs and you're out" rule seems to have been taken advantage of.

Dole had a real problem with Kerry's anti-war activities and said maybe Kerry owes an apology to all of those vets.

Dole said he considers Kerry a friend but his Senate record is pretty darn thin.

He said George Bush has taken months of undeserved hits about his Guard Service. Dole pointed to his own war record and that he ran against Clinton who outright dodged the draft yet it wasn't a major issue. He said the same people that defended Clinton's draft dodging record are attacking George Bush for what he did.

Dole really made it clear that the Kerry in Vietnam record has been muddied by the credible Swift Vets. He said he watched John O'Neill the other night saying that President Bush could tell them to stop and they would NOT. Dole said it is clear there is no connection between Bush campaign and SVs.

Wolf plays clip of McCain from 2000 telling George Bush that the group that said McCain had abandoned the veterans, how that hurt. Dole's comment: "Yeah, that hurts". PERIOD.

When Wolf brought up Harkin's comments about Cheney, Dole interjected right off that Harkin's the wrong man to be making statements since he was "hiding in Japan" then later claimed to be a Vietnam vet. Wolf said "Well, let's see what he said" and reads the Cheney slam which Dole swept aside.

Dole, except for making a gracious comment about Kerry being a friend, held to a very hard line, IMO.

The RAT talking point will be that testifying to Congress about US atrocities and confessing to being a war criminal is the act of a patriot.

They're already saying that Kerry wasn't really accusing the vets of these atrocities -- he was just repeating what he heard other people say.

Two problems with this. It says that a Senate Committee would deliberately go out of its way to have Kerry give it heresay testimony. And, the people who said that the views of the SBVFT cannot be believed unless they actually served on Kerry's boat (being within a few feet of it isn't good enough) are also saying that Kerry's testimony before that committee is believable even though he didn't actually see these atrocities for himself.

Time to crank up the donations to the SBVT again. These men are getting the job done.

Right on!!!! ASA --- '69-'71. Give as much as you think you can. A Swiftie mentioned on one show that their contributions are on the rise. Let's keep it GOING!

Bush has NEVER attacked Kerry's vet service. His fellow VETS are attacking him and his lies. Kerry's aim/logic is off the mark that one wonders (Ha) about his mental abilities.

Let's not forget too that Dole sent McCain a campaign donation while his own wife was still in the running for the Presidency.

I never forget an offense!! LOLOL

Clearly Dole is no Bush sycophant, ala Lanny Davis, et al.

Great report.

I have it one but it must be a different time zone because no Dole anywhere to be seen.

There's a thread on FR right now about how great Dole is doing!

That Harkin was exposed in the book Stolen Valor, I believe and it's amazing the voters just don't care if someone is a liar.

There's a news Swift Boat ad coming out tomorrow...it's going to be so ugly we're all going to need a month's vacation after the election.
