The Bush tacit amnesty plan in action. Employers surely get the point: HIRE ILLEGALS

The message is clear.

The department doesn't have agents exclusively dedicated to monitoring "traditional" workplaces such as hotels, restaurants or farms.

Not to worry. The SSA matches employer W-2 data to SSA master files. Employer W-2 data with bogus / stolen SSNs go into a suspense file. Most of the employers are "traditional" workplaces. But then.. the department doesn't really care, does it? As of 1998 there were some seven million suspect employees and thousands and thousands of employers. It's not a Bush thing. This is not Bush-bashing!

With the new on-line SSN validation system (SSNVS) coming in December we can ask "traditional" workplaces. et al. if they use the system and are their employees legal. Then we can "enforce" the law and "fine" the offenders by avoiding the lawbreakers.

ILLEGAL alien advocates are "troubled." Good chance the Republicrats will cancel the SSNVS -- or at least delay it for another eighteen years.

This is the Number One thing that has to done to start the illegals self-deporting.

Exactly. Turn the lights off and the bugs will go away.

legalize the illegals that are already here...

Every previous amnesty has just led to larger numbers of people crossing the fence, hoping to get in for the next one.

To make matters worse, the number of illegals in this country is far higher than the government wants to admit. They always go by the nebulous "8 to 12 million" from the 2000 census. The Border Patrol has caught roughly a million a year on our southern border since then -- but for every one they catch, four make it through. There are also several million here who entered on legal visas and conveniently forgot the expiration date. The true number of illegals is somewhere between 20 and 30 million.

Nail the employers to the wall, cut off all public benefits, and let it be known that if illegal status becomes known in the future it will result in immediate forfeiture of all assets followed by swift deportation.

Remember how so many Pakistanis went home after 9-11? I asked a Pakistani friend of mine about it and he gave me the real story. The Paks knew they would be under close scrutiny and quite a large number were here on fake passports and visas.

Amnestry will only harm this country. We are not responsible for the surplus population of countries that choose to overbreed.

Two things:

  1. It's not a catapult. It's a trebuchet.
  2. If you think that trebuchet looks a marital aid, all I can say is that...well...you must not get out much.

Sakes...

For some reason, I think the Feds want to know where the illegals are, while they ramp up a way for going after the illegals for deportation.

Wishful thinking, or do you really believe that?

I think we should close our borders, legalize the illegals that are already here... Be extremely harsh on new illegals, and then implement an immigration policy that functions as a brain drain on the rest of the world.

Been there done that, or don't you remember the "One Time Amnesty" that was to fix this problem?

Too expensive... We legalize the ones here, make them pay taxes.

The only reason certain businesses and individuals hired illegals in the first place is because they can pay them much less and don't provide workman's comp or pay in taxes on them. Illegals are brought in to exploit and that's all --- the minute they're legalized and paid legal wages and benefits, their employers will just bring in a new batch of illegals. The employers hiring illegals only do so to break every labor law that others are required to follow --- they need to start paying some hefty fines --- the financial incentives to bring in near-slaves has to end.

"Too expensive... We legalize the ones here, make them pay taxes. "

Here's why this idea won't work....the Earned Income Credit part of the Federal income tax laws.

Most illegals work low-paying jobs, which means they don't make much money and most of them have large families. They will end up getting back a bigger Federal income tax rebate than the amount of taxes they paid in. If they're legal, they'll also be able to access the social service programs they're accessing right now - AFDC, WIC, food stamps, Section 8 housing, help with their utility bills, etc., except now they'll be able to access the free-money trough for the whole family - not just their American-born "anchor babies" (which is how the law is written now), because then the WHOLE FAMILY will be U.S. citizens and therefore eligible for Federal and state Medicaid, etc.

In other words, if we legalize them and they pay in Federal taxes, they're actually going to be getting more money from the government teat than they are now!

Your post is right on the money! It's all about cheap labor and being able to exploit it.

The classic trebuchet, the kind that could demolish castle walls, had a free swinging basket which served as a powerful, adjustable counterweight capable of hurling a 300 lb projectile several hundred yards... that thing couldn't chuck anything that big. Your catapult's been castrated...it has no basket. Ha!

"Amnestry will only harm this country. We are not responsible for the surplus population of countries that choose to overbreed."

While I agree with your sentiments, it seems that people are the NEW commodity in the global economy. Who wants to live in an overpopulated cess pool? At the same time the big idea is that companies are going to market to the masses in India, China, S. and Central America (America is just about reached saturation of first time buyers for DVDs, gizmos, etc.), but in order to be successful the people first need money and jobs.

And hey, since there are so many of billions of people unemployed in these countries they will work cheaply too. The more people the cheaper.

Don't see how we win this one. One stop-gap strategy. Mass exodus of females workers from the work force combined with sending the illegal workers home and curtailing our immigration would creat higher demand for the male workers left in America and thereby higher wages. Higher wages and more women at home hopefully would create "sustainable growth" (:-) in the American citizen population.

My advice: learn Spanish (it isn't hard), monitor and report the racism and bigotry of the Spanish language media, and let the invaders from "la raza superior" know that they are being watched by people who know what is really happening.

I am fluent in Spanish, since both Spanish and English are my "first" languages. Since my English is accent-free, and I prefer not to divulge my knowledge of Spanish except on occasions of my choosing, what you say is dead-on. Specially in Mexico, I have had occasions when the hair on my arms stood on end, from the hostility and hatred displayed both in body language and verbally when they are unaware that one understands Spanish. Literally, I have felt that many of these people people would just as soon cut you up and dump you as talk to you if you are American.

The fines have stopped, because if they start fining employers, the employers stop hiring, the illegals stop coming, and the ones here go home. Can't have that. Republicans need gardeners, and Democrats need votes.
