Undecided Voters Likely to Select Kerry in November Election, Finds GMI World Poll
Investor's Business Daily ^ | Aug. 24, 2004 | Business Wire

John Kerry continues to gain support from voters who favored George W. Bush in 2000 and is converting a number of undecided people in the upcoming presidential election, according to the latest poll by independent global market research company GMI, Inc.

Among undecided voters:

-- 38 percent believed Kerry would be better for the domestic job market.

-- 22 percent expressed confidence in Bush's U.S. economic strategies.

-- Almost 60 percent felt Bush was an ineffective global leader due to his foreign policies and stance on the Iraqi War.

-- More than half believed ongoing government terrorist alerts are a ploy by the Bush Administration for political gain.

The survey showed 74 percent of those who supported Bush in 2000 said they would favor the President in this year's election, down 2 percent from the July World Poll. GMI also found more than 41 percent of voters aligned with Kerry claimed they would vote Democratic this November because they disliked Bush and his foreign policies, rather than due to any strong affinity for Kerry.

This boggles the mind. An example of how the MSM and the Dem propaganda were able to turn Bush's huge successes into "failures" in the eyes of the uninformed voters, who are most of those who make up the "undecided" block.

They need to be informed.

I also hope the Swifties will have an impact on this block of voters.

Clearly, these so-called "independents" are card-carrying leftwingers.

Not if he's no longer a candidate. :)

If Kerry would withdraw, the Dems probably would pony up Hillary. Is that what you want?

High percentages of undecideds normally go to the opponent rather than the incumbent.

The trick is to move people before the election or to get your opponent's supporters to stay at home.

The problem is that there seem to be too many of them.

That's why it's critical that Bush's base turn out for the election to counterbalance it.

Anyone who sits out the election is voting for Kerry.

#1 - I doubt it, because she knows Bush is for the most part unbeatable, else she would have run this year anyway.

#2 - She cannot win. She's too polarizing a person.

[pulls out wrinkled paper from pocket and reads]

Folks, worrying or celebrating are both wrong. Please take action. Please call the campaign and volunteer to register voters in GOP neighborhoods. That is the only activism that matters at this point. We have to expand the size of the voting universe and the expansion must be GOP.

This is exactly the message that people need to take away from these polls: It's going to be close and we need to everything we can to vote and get others to vote for Bush.

Leftists? I think not. That misses the mark completely.

No, they're idiots who believe what they hear and see
from the "mainstream" media. Their votes can be won in
only two ways: One, a bandwagon effect that would kick
in only if Bush established a substantial lead over
Kerry in the polls, which won't happen. Or two, the
destruction of Kerry's reputation and credibility.

That's why the Swift Boat ads are so important, and
why we must focus on portraying Kerry as a liar,
unpatriotic, cowardly, and far-left. Many of the
anti-Bush "undecideds" are too stupid to understand
or evaluate any particular charge against Frog. But
if we can create a strong enough aura of doubt about
him, we can win. In short: Let's throw everything
we can at Kerry, as hard as we can, as often and
as long as we can, without letup, doubt, explanation,
or apology.

WE are the campaign. Let's get to it ...

I don't know. But I did work for William O'Neil who owns Investors Business Daily for 9 years. I was an equities trader on his trading desk. He is a rabid free market Republican.

"Eggers points out, however, that GMI’s most recent survey does indicate Bush still can revive his campaign, especially if he delivers the messages that help to recapture a dwindling loyal-voter base at this month’s GOP National Convention. “The President needs to address the people voting for Kerry simply because they don’t like Bush,” said Eggers. He added that these are negatives that can be corrected, but only if Bush justifies the war, stabilizes his stance on foreign policy and reminds voters about 911."

Bring on the convention!
Also, this doesn't take into account future
SBVFT ads, and resulting media attention
regarding Kerry's follies before, during, and
after Viet Nam.
Then, there's the matter of a do nothing Senate
career...

I might be worried if I believed the polls were
correctly tabulated, but I don't...

Don't panic. I kid you not, this poll sampled 1000 "media-informed individuals in each of the world's leading G8 economic nations." Not a likely-voter poll.

That's exactly right. Despair digs us in deeper. And
overconfidence is almost as bad. The only proper attitude
is: Work harder than ever. And work smart.

Thanks.
