We fished with percussion grenades...As opposed to, what, woodwind grenades or strings grenades? I had a passing familiarity with concussion grenades, but I never was lucky enough to get my hands on one of the super-secret "percussion" grenades....

God Bless guys like this who come out with nothin but truth.
These truths will sink Kerry, but not without a horrendous and lie-filled last gasp from the Kerry Ferries, which will make Kerry's exasperated actions to-date look like fun n'games.
I just despise Kerry and all those g*dd*m Clinton liberals who are behind this creep of a candidate!!!

"He states in his book; "Every day that the Gridley patrolled the Gulf of Tonkin an enemy attack was remotely possible."
I suppose Robert McNamara would have considered that remotely possible. In fact I think he claimed it actually happened once...
BTW, this sounds like "the shrapnel could have hit his eye" and "the fourth purple heart could be for his death". Strained logic.

UNFIT FOR COMMAND
I predict that the best selling book of 2005 will be

No Vietnam veteran considered a tour at "Yankee Station" as a tour of duty in Vietnam, unless you were a Navy pilot. Best thing about Yankee Station was watching carrier ops, worst was boredom. Did pick up a little action on the gun line at Point Alpha.

CORE NEW NEWS = ANOTHER KERRY LIE regarding the "show" for Sec. of defense Laird.
This should be supplied to your local newspapers, and included in your letters to editors.

On page 179, there is a reference to an incident that occurred on October 14th. Page 181 begins with; "Only a few weeks later, Kerry, on a PCF-44 patrol, observed four troop battalions from the Ninth Infantry Division at Dong Tam and five Mobile Riverine Force squadrons staging an assault for the benefit of Secretary of Defense Melvin Laird. "To facilitate putting on a good show, an area was picked out for the landing where the chance of guerilla contact was minimal." Kerry sneered. "Nothing was to mess up the show for the secretary of defense." I was with River Assault Squadron 13 during this time period. Melvin Laird was the secretary of defense from January 22, 1969 to January 29, 1973.Kerry apparently said Sec Def Laird witnessed a staged attack in October 1968, impossible since Laird didn't become SecDef until 1969.
Another CiC moment?

Sounds like another lie to me.
It may have happened, but he fudged it to pin it on the Nixon administration.
