And there's this:
"When Kerry is asked about the nightmares that haunted his sleep for years after he returned from Vietnam, he shrugs. "I don't think I've had a nightmare in a long time," he says. But then Heinz begins to mimic Kerry having a Vietnam nightmare.
"Down! Down, down!" she yells, patting her hands down on her auburn hair.
"I haven't gotten slapped yet," she says. "But there were times when I thought I might get throttled."
Kerry quivers his right foot and steers the discussion to the counseling programs he has supported for Vietnam veterans. Asked if he has been in therapy himself, he non-answers. "It doesn't bother me anymore, I just go back to sleep."
Heinz presses him. "Not therapy for the dreams, therapy for the angst," she says, and looks quizzically at him, awaiting an answer. Kerry shakes his head "No."

The Daily News seems to be on a roll lately detailing DNC shenanigans. Is Mort Zuckerman trying to compete with Rupert on content now?
To: Mitchell
So does he have some good reasons for these nightmares, or is he just again coopting some about Vietnam veteran-lore into his act?

And just how do the dems reveal the swifties military records and we can't see Kerry's.

So does he have some good reasons for these nightmares, or is he just again coopting some about Vietnam veteran-lore into his act? It sounds like his wife thinks he has a good reason, although she may or may not know what the reason is.
Why would she talk about this in front of a reporter, though?
People don't normally talk that way about their spouse in public unless there is a lot of animosity there. I discount the idea that it was staged, since I don't see how Kerry benefits from such talk. This was in 2002 anyway.
So I'm uncertain how to interpret this interview.

The very leak by this 'source' is part of the smear campaign, to tell these vets to shut up or they'll get it.

Kerry and his Brownshirts are picking on the wrong guys . So what if they "expose" divorces, etc.? These heroes of VietNam, who are now heroes for coming forward to spare the country a Kerry Kommunist Regime, have thousands, if not millions, of voters on their side.
Look at the polls today. Kerry's ship is sinking, and a blast of rice in the ass won't earn him a pass this time.

Great post. What exactly have these vets to fear from the trust-fund brats of the liberal elite?
These gallant men--the Swift Boat Vets Against Kerry-- can brush off the pestilent nits and the lice that produced them.
Here's the News article, for those who asked:
A Swift (& deadly) response
Sen. John Kerry called a member of the Swift Boat Veterans For Truth over the weekend to try to reason with him over the group's attacks on his record. But fellow Democrats aren't hesitating to try far more aggressive tactics.
A group of Democratic loyalists is compiling incriminating dossiers on the members of the veteran group - and they sent us a preview of what might be in store for Swift Boat activist James Zumwalt, son of illustrious Adm. Elmo Zumwalt - and it isn't pretty.
Zumwalt "attempted to kill himself with an overdose of prescription drugs," after the murder of his ex-wife's fiance, John Kowalczyk, according to the dossier, which is footnoted to news sources, and was "convicted of reckless driving after chasing Kowalczyk at a high speed on the highway."
Zumwalt stepped into the line of fire when he testified with the controversial Swift vets at the National Press Club in Washington last May.

Not only this, but the fact that today Judicial Watch released FBI documents showing Kerry received laundered money from the Chinese in his 1996 campaign. Looks like the Clinton-FBI didn't care to do anything about it.

I think they might be connected too.
I didn't realize it until I read where there was speculation that the original idea for the breakin was to find information about the VVAW. And .. that proves to me the repubs already knew there was a dem connection to the VVAW.

Was Kerry intertwixed in the Colby/Shackley/Clines Phoenix Project in Viet Nam? Maybe that is from where his nightmares arise.
The topick comes up more than once with him.....
From a Meet the Press interview with Tim Russert, 6 May 2001,
http://hnn.us/articles/3552.html:
MR. RUSSERT: By your own comments, Bob Kerrey was not alone in doing the things that he did.
SEN. KERRY: Oh, of course, not. And not only that, we, the government of our country, ran an assassination program. I mean, Bill Colby has acknowledged it.
We had the Phoenix Program, where they actually went into villages to eliminate the civilian infrastructure of the Vietcong. Now, you couldn't tell the difference in many cases who they were. And countless veterans testified 30 years ago to that reality. And I think--look, there's no excusing shooting children in cold blood, or women, and killing them in cold blood. There isn't, under any circumstances. But we're not asking, you know, nor is Bob Kerrey saying, "Excuse us for what we did." We're asking people to try to understand the context and forgiveness. And I think the nation needs to understand what the nation put its young in a position to do, and move on and take those lessons and apply them to the future.
From the New York Sun, 12 March 2004,
http://daily.nysun.com/Repository/getFiles.asp?Style=OliveXLib:ArticleToMail&Type=text/html&Path=NYS/2004/03/12&ID=Ar00100:
HOW KERRY QUIT VETERANS GROUP AMID DARK PLOT
When Talk Turned To Assassination He Exited, Vet Says
The anti-war group that John Kerry was the principal spokesman for debated and voted on a plot to assassinate politicians who supported the Vietnam War....
Gerald Nicosias 2001 book Home To War reports that one of the key leaders of Vietnam Veterans Against the War, Scott Camil, proposed the assassination of the most hard-core conservative members of Congress,as well as any other powerful, intractable opponents of the antiwar movement. The book reports on the Kansas City meeting at which Mr. Camils plan was debated and then voted down.
Mr. Nicosias book was widely praised by reviewers as varied as General Harold Moore, author of We Were Soldiers; Gloria Emerson, who had been a New York Times reporter during the Vietnam War, and leftist Howard Zinn. Mr. Kerry himself stated in a blurb on the cover that the book ties together the many threads of a difficult period. Mr. Kerry hosted a party for the book in the Hart Senate Office Building that was televised on C-SPAN.
Another source is an October 20, 1992, oral history interview of Scott Camil on file at the University of Florida Oral History Archive. In it, Mr. Camil speaks of his plan for an alternative to Mr. Kerrys idea of symbolically throwing veterans medals over the fence onto the steps of the Capitol during the Dewey Canyon III demonstration in Washington in April of 1971.
My plan was that, on the last day we would go into the [congressional] offices we would schedule the most hardcore hawks for last and we would shoot them all, Mr. Camil told the Oral History interviewer. I was serious.
In a phone interview with the Sun this week, Mr. Camil did not dispute either the account in the Nicosia book or in the oral history.
He said he plans to accept an offer by the Florida Kerry organization to become active in Mr. Kerrys presidential campaign. Campaign aides to Mr. Kerry invited Mr. Camil to a meeting for the senator in Orlando last week, but they did not meet directly.
Mr. Camil was known to colleagues in the anti-war movement as Scott the Assassin. Mr. Camil told The New York Sun he got the name in Vietnam for sneaking down to the Vietnamese villages at night and killing people.
According to the Nicosia book and interviews with VVAW members who were involved, at the Vietnam Veterans Against the War Kansas City leadership conference, Mr. Camil tried to put his plan into effect.
He called together eight to 10 Marines to organize something he called The Phoenix Project. The original Phoenix Project during the Vietnam War was an attempt to destroy the Viet Cong leadership by assassination. Mr. Camils Phoenix Project planned to execute the Southern senatorial leadership that was financing the Vietnam War. Senators like John Stennis, Strom Thurmond, and John Tower were his targets, according to Mr. Camil. They were to be killed during the Senate Christmas recess the following month....
Also, Kerry says he was
running guns in Cambodia.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1193477/posts Finaly, Kerry says that he worked with the CIA on secret missions in Viet Name. And who could forget the << good-luck hat >> that he got from << a CIA guy as we went in for a special mission in Cambodia >>? I won't up and bother with a link, you've all seen this.
To: nikos1121
Why aren't we starting to see the results of Kerry's inability to rebuke the SBVT in the polls yet?We are, he/s dropped six points in Arizona in the space of two weeks, and is losing in other states too, Florida reports Bush now in the lead.
