Posted on 08/25/2004 11:36:49 AM PDT by GulliverSwift

Former Georgia Senator Max Cleland, left, and former Green Beret Lt. Jim Rassmann, center, approach a Secret Service Agent, right, on station at the check point to the entrance of President Bush (news - web sites)'s ranch Wednesday Aug. 25, 2004 in Crawford, Texas. #48 I caught that one of Rasmussan's too! And this version makes both sense and corroborates the Swiftees' account.

We appreciate your concern, sir. We have been trained not to play with grenades.

I never got the story straight.... Cleland was crippled (wounds heal) reaching for a grenade on the ground that he thought he dropped.
Was he fragged?
or was he already drunk and knocked a live grenade off his vest while going for a beer????

(I was told on another thread that this type of thing is NOT funny -- yet, I couldn't resist.)

I don't agree. Nobody just shows up at the Presidents doorstep and demand service. Totally disrespectful.

No duh - but aft_lizard was right in his idea of Bush reversing the tables on them by inviting them in because THEY WANTED TO BE TURNED AWAY.

Cleland's left sleeve is completely down, but his right sleeve is rolled up to show his partial arm.........pathetic attempt to exploit his self-inflicted injury for Kerry, who is using him for HIS political gain. Low, Low, Low.

It also had the possibility to end up like a Leahy thing too. These people have zero scruples.

"Looks to me like the SS Agent has the letter in his hand."

Naw, it's a letter from Dubya to Max:
"Hey Max, need another grenade to play with?"

Well, there is at least one one-armed man who's guilty as H - of shameless prostitution.

Allowing himself to be used like that makes me want to turn my eyes away from him as from a watery-eyed drunken beggar.

JF'nK is now officially desperate.

This just goes to show that the President is smarter than all the Dems put together. By doing what Maximus Clueless Cleland wanted and ask the Swiftboat vets to stop their attacks on Botox Boy, the President would have committed an illegal act by contacting them. However, when Botox Boy contacted a Swift boat vet, he has already committed an illegal act! Makes one proud to have such a smart President!

A Texas state official and Vietnam veteran, Jerry Patterson, offered to accept the letter and offered Cleland one of his own supporting Bush. Cleland left without any exchange taking place.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Jerry Patterson, and he's a class act. He also was primary sponsor and chief cheerleader for the bill which became the Texas "shall issue" concealed carry law.

Good thing he rolled up his sleeve to reveal the stump of his right arm, otherwise I would have had no idea that he was an amputee. < / extreme sarcasm >

A man devoid of shame.

This has got to be the most disgraceful thing I've ever seen.

You want to deliver a message like this? Much like challenging a man to a duel with a glove slap - or Martin Luther nailing his 95 theses to the cathedral door...YOU DO IT YOURSELF.

A real man doesn't send a pathetic surrogate to run his fool's errand.

But we all know what kind of a "man" Kerry is now, don't we?

Cleland ought not to mad at President Bush. He ought to be mad at the incompetent weapons instructor that taught him how to handle hand grenades. What a bitter pittiful little man. He makes Lt. Dan (Forest Gump movie) look like Zig Ziglar.

The only "band of brothers" that he and John McCain care about are Senate "brothers".

Rassman aint the best at boat ridin either. These are some really pittiful people.
