Max Cleland Turned Away From Bush Ranch

Posted on 08/25/2004 11:36:49 AM PDT by GulliverSwift

Former Georgia Senator Max Cleland, left, and former Green Beret Lt. Jim Rassmann, center, approach a Secret Service Agent, right, on station at the check point to the entrance of President Bush (news - web sites)'s ranch Wednesday Aug. 25, 2004 in Crawford, Texas. Cleland tried to deliver a letter protesting ads challenging John Kerry (news - web sites)'s Vietnam service to President Bush at his Texas ranch Wednesday, but the Secret Service stopped Cleland short of his goal. This is one of the most disgraceful PR stunts I have ever seen and I've been voting for 50 years.

Kerry has no shame and I'll been even some of the more moderate Dems wish someone else was running for president.

The content of the letter is:

"Report Card "

"Student Name: Cleland, Max
Course Name: Hand Grenade Throwing
Grade: F
Comments: When the pin is pulled Mr. Grenade is not our friend."

(Not Funny Darth!)

Cleland is just bitter because the voters of GA finally got sick of him riding his missing limbs to DC only to vote with Ted Kennedy instead for his conservative constituency. To constantly portray these wounds as battlefield injuries when they were the result of careless handling of a granade in his quarters is just exactly why he feels such a bond with Kerry and his fantasies.

I would feel worse about it, but Cleland seems to be willingly towing the Kerry line.

The correct term here is toeing, as in having your toes on the line, not towing, like to pull something behing you. Unfortunately, Mr. Cleland is unable to toe any lines.

Good point. It was a big missed opportunity. Laura could have even served lemonade.

"Karl Rove shows he doesn't know how to play the game."

Maybe you could explain why Bush should accept a letter asking him to do something he can't do. He's the President of the United States. Not an office secretary. This whole stunt was going to be on the news no matter what. Now Cleland just looks stupid. He came, he saw, he got ignored. Next.

Please don't post photos of our President like that. They cause me to have "sinful thoughts" about a married man.....

This was going to be spun against Bush no matter what he did--I'm glad he sent them packing. GO BUSH!

Is this the point at which we remind everyone that Cleland's wounds were self-inflicted?

Sending this guy out, to represent Viet Nam vets is the sickest, stupidest thing I've ever, ever seen.

I know who you mean but can't recall his name. He came to our area a few times. He's a true American war hero, not a phony baloney like JFK wannabee.

You're absolutely right. It is disgusting.

But it is geared for consumption by NBC, CBS and ABC by the Kerry losers.

This photo-op was geared perfectly so that the media will show a wheelchair-bound Cleland being refused an audience with Pres Bush.

The disgusting part is that the media will likely not cover this story properly.

If I was Bush I would have been standing out there waiting for them to deliver it and then smile and invite them in for coffee.

In my view, President Bush has already proven to be more than courteous to his opponents in every conceivable way. I cannot imagine any reason for him to accomodate those who wish only to slander him and derail his station via any method.

If Kerry wins (which is unlikely) this election in November, I for one will consider heading for the hills. The USA as we have known it will be so over forever.

The Liberals are without redeeming qualities, and they represent the complete destruction of this Nation as it was originally instituted. Then and also as it was at the time when the World needed us to set things right. That the USA has done on more than one occasion, and continues to do until this day!

The liberals are nothing more than a human version of an Insect Colony where mindlessness and subordination to a Queen is all that is relevant. The liberals are de-evolutionists, and they would have us all become as irrelevant as an insect colony.

Humans, have been directed by God (in Genesis) to take dominion over such things. Humans were created in order to be above the animals. The Liberals would have us cease in that endeavor, and indeed they would have us to be nothing more than drones in the greater collective hive. It is so contrary to what God has admonished us to be.

Good gawd, people. Where have we gone? What ever happened to the term "fair fight"? This is so out of hand now, with Kerry resorting to low-life, sleazy photo-ops with wounded Viet Nam veterans on the doorstep of the presiding President of the United States. This is just so UNDERHANDED. Golly, do you think there might actually be some substance to the accusations against Kerry? You think???

These Dems will stop at NOTHING to stop the what now appears to be the truth - at least, to a serious degree (me thinks he doth protest too much). And even if it were all wrong - it sure doesn't look that way now. The reactions from the Kerry camp are giving credence to the accusations. Talk Talk Talk. They won't shut up. What a mess.
