No, this is endgame. Kerry's not coming back. The only question now is whether Bush can get enough EVs to make this so "not close" as to defy claims of a "stolen" election.
I also have my doubts. Looks like a MAN baby!
As a scholar who has studied the media, I don't think it's that great, and at times, in fact, there is a backlash against the media when people perceive the bias as obvious.
What are the Clinton Futures going for lately?
You know martin, I think the conventioneers shold save the protesters from being arrested, and just Mace them on sight.
I hope that you're right and that it was only Evan Thomas's inflated ego and his 15% swing. Thomas really does think the people are sheeple. He's one of the reasons I started turning the TV off years ago.
The media is becoming very blatant in the past few years showing their bias, no subtlety. Especially when they started thinking that they, as reporters, were more important than the news.
I hope Pat Robertson so informs Gary Bauer.
Thanks for the ping!
Thanks. I am cynical about the LAT.
The LA Times poll today is the first sign that Kerry may be seriously bleeding (something he never did in Vietnam).
I don't think this is a conspiracy in this case. Just look at the internals of the LAT poll. If only 3% of Republicans vote Kerry, but 15% of Dems are voting for Bush, with the independents evenly split, how high is the Demo percentage boosted to get only a 3% lead for Bush? Just think about it...
I do think the trends since then have much to do with Vietnam--Kerry's ineffective national posturing as a glory hound, and the Swifties' well aimed torpedos. I believe this is free speech at its best.
Notice also, though, that Kerry gets ZERO help from his Veep---whose "two Americas" speech fell flat in "real" America; nor from his idiot wife; nor from his Veep's wife, who (politically incorrect to say this) is too fat to be an effective campaigner. In short, out of four people who could be out there on the stump (all, admittedly, not of the same stature as the candidate), only one is out there.
Great post. It does answer a lot of questions.
I think so too. Not flatlining, at least not yet, but it's headed in that direction.
The Democratic defectors tend to fit what a Bush constituent looks like groups that tend toward more culturally conservative views. They are married, less educated, self-described conservative, own a gun and live in a rural area.

"Yeehawww, Jake! Ah just knew it was we dumb, gun-own'in, wife-beat'in rural con-servatives that had to be them democrat-type defectors..."
