That is only "conventional wisdom" among leftists. I think the more conventional view among normal people is the lesson we (should have) learned about allowing politics to tie military hands. We should have applied real effort and real fire power instead of playing political games. The mission could have easily been accomplished if not for anit-war carping and leftist appeasement. You cannot fight "half a war."
