AIF cell leader captured near Samarra

TIKRIT, Iraq – 1st Infantry Division Soldiers captured an Anti-Iraqi Force cell leader near Samarra on Aug. 27 at about 4:40 p.m. The AIF member, Weesam Sabah Mamoud Al Badri, was captured when a patrol searched his vehicle and found a cell phone and cables like those used in previous IED attacks in the area. He was transported to coalition detention facilities.

1st Infantry Division detain four individuals near IED site

TIKRIT, Iraq – 1st Infantry Division Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry Regiment detained four individuals during house searches near Ad Dujayl on Aug. 27

The Soldiers searched the homes near the site of an unexploded improvised explosive device. The Soldiers confiscated four AK-47 assault rifles, seven 7.62mm magazines, a white Super Crown sedan, and 296,000 Dinar during the search. The individuals were transported to a Coalition detention facility for questioning.

One Iraqi civilian killed, two wounded during mortar attack in Bayji

TIKRIT, Iraq – One Iraqi civilian was killed and two others, including an Iraqi Police officer were wounded when Anti- Iraqi Forces fired mortars in Bayji on Aug. 28 at about 12:53 p.m. The Iraqi police evacuated the wounded to a local hospital. The Iraqi police are investigating the incident.

Six AIF detained after attacking TF Danger observation post

TIKRIT, Iraq – Six Anti-Iraqi Force members were captured near Kirkuk at about 10:45 p.m. Aug. 27 following an attack on an observation post. Task Force Danger Soldiers returned fire on the enemy and captured the six AIF members in a building where they were firing. The six were turned over to Iraqi police. Additionally, two other wounded AIF suspects are in the Azadi hospital.

Yesterday (very slow day), I used the "positive news" links you have been so good about posting, in combination with the 911 report, to destroy my new officemate's false impression of the conduct of the BASH and AfterBASH.

He ended up saying, "I guess I'm voting for Bush"... but I think maybe he just did so because he had been so intimidated and pummeled... LoL ... He hasn't heard the end of it, though, so keep the good news coming!
