BUSH'S VALUES REPRESENT WHAT AMERICA NEEDS

The earliest recollection I have of a presidential race was in 1976 — Carter-Mondale vs. Ford-Dole.

I was 12 years old, and our school went to see Mr. Dole at our small local airport. The hoopla was terrific. How exciting that our vice-presidential hopeful was actually in our town. So we conducted our own presidential election in our school, and Ford-Dole won hands down.

To our disappointment, Mr. Carter won the real election. It was then that GOP blood began to run in my veins.

In a crowded hall in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1984, I waited for eight hours to hear President Reagan, and it was well worth the wait. I had the privilege of meeting Jack Kemp at a church in Des Moines sometime later. I waited for six hours to hear George H.W. Bush at Carillon Park in Dayton 1992 and I met Dan Quayle at K's Hamburgers sometime later.

On July 4, 2003, I stood in 90-degree heat to see President Bush at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. I found him to be much smaller than I imagined (when you are 150 yards from the platform, he appears to be only 1/8th of an inch tall).

I don't favor the Republicans and vote Republican just because my parents are Republicans.

In fact, I don't come from a long line of Republicans. My paternal grandparents surely weren't for the GOP — they named my father Franklin Delano.

I am Republican because the GOP platform comes much closer to reflecting my philosophy and ideals than does any other party platform. And, if the Republican platform were ever to move to a position which conflicted with my convictions, I would cease to support the Republican Party.

Why did I work myself into a frenzy trying to get tickets to see "W" today? Not just because I want to see him, not just because I want to hear what he has to say. These things can be accomplished in front of a TV set. It is so much more than that — it is because I want to show the president that the REAL "heart and soul of America" stands with him.

I don't care what Hollywood, Ronnie Reagan and Katie Couric have to say. I don't care what kind of president they want in the White House. I want to stand alongside thousands of other Ohioans and express to Mr. Bush that his values, his morals, his intelligence, his leadership, his strength, his non-compromising attitude and his faith are what America is all about. I want him to know that the people in "Strawberry Capital, USA" believe strongly in what he is doing to preserve and protect our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

President Bush has bathed his leadership in prayer. His personal relationship with Christ has allowed him to have the mind of God in leading this country. Besides the communication with his Heavenly Father, he has surrounded himself with some of the most capable earthly counsel available. In November 2000, we elected George W. Bush to follow God's leading as he would lead our nation, and he has not disappointed us.

America is not a utopia. She is not perfect, but she is still the greatest country on earth, founded on faith in God and paid for by the blood of multitudes of martyrs from Lexington Green to Baghdad.

Now, the liberals ask us to lay down our arms, cut our defenses, fight a "more sensitive war" and give way to those who would destroy us.

It is only by God's mercy that America has not been consumed. Can we fathom what would happen were we to get what we deserve?

By putting Mr. Bush back in the White House we can continue to ask for God's blessing on America.

To the detriment of our nation, Carter won! With his four years of screwing up the country added to Clinton's eight years, we've had 12 years of stupidity by central government.

While I, a staunch Constitutional Conservative, still have a couple of bones to pick with GWB, in general, I agree -- the article clearly defines the HUGE DIFFERENCE between Bush and Kerry.

Bush cares about this country, its people, its military and the DEFENSE OF OUR FREEDOMS. Kerry has proven, over and over, that HE FAILS IN ALL CATEGORIES. A miserable excuse for an American.

VOTE BUSH -- KEEP AMERICA SAFE --
