Babylonians figured out that twelve worked better. More divisors, as mentioned above.
They also gave us the sixty minute hour, and 360 degrees in a circle. That's part of the reason we work with a year of nearly 360 -- (365.25)
The day has 1440 minutes of sixty seconds. I don't think we'd want to change the length of the minute, but we could use hours of 144 minutes.
Doesn't the Bible say something about the anti-christ changing time?
Well, that's just a great idea. But I spent over a minute thinking about it, and have come up with the real solution - smartly decouple the length of a day from that old school "one planet turn" thing. My day lengths would continueally adjust with the amount of daylight (longer in the summer, shorter in the winter). With existing watch/chip technology this could easily be iomplemented.
Once this decoupling is done, the skids are greased.
In fact, I would go one step farther and institute "global time" - whereby it's 10:10:10 everywhere in the world at the same time.
I will be submitting my solution to the U.N. tomorrow for humble consideration. One person can make a difference (and in this case, just in time).
**More divisors, as mentioned above.**
Thinking along that line -- what would a half year, a quarterly tax file date, bimonthly, etc. etc.
