If he enjoys shooting so much, maybe he should show up there

That would be interesting. That event is so nearby, we practically could walk there to freep him (although it might be unwieldy toting the signs that say "Anti-2nd Amendment, Pro-Abortion, anti-Steel, anti-Coal; John Kerry does not reflect WV/OH values"

"I know he's an avid sportsman. I'd heard last time he was looking for shooting opportunities," said Trevas.

My response to that would get me banned.

I was right below you then pretty much. I had worked the phone bank prior to the event and then got sent to that area. Great place to be!

""I told them he (Kerry) could come and shoot, but he couldn't use it as a campaign vehicle," he said."

I think I'd let him shoot and bring the press if it were my place. Of course I would cover every available space with Bush 04 stickers and posters.

I know that the Kerry PR pukes would try to tear all the stuff down, but that's part of the plan. Get them to "misunderestimate" me.

The kicker would be that I would place Kerry/Edwards stickers on all the clay pigeons he would be shooting at. He's so used to shooting himself in the foot, it may improve his score.

Yes, I know, it's childish...but it would be so much fun.

Best regards

Sergio

UD is a nice little school and Dayton is a very nice medium size livable city. Have spent some time in Texas recently as well and was really impressed. If it weren't for the dang ol' heat we would probably be moving.

Once again, conflicting reports of where Kerry might stop in Steubenville. The Wheeling papers say Fort Steuben; WTOV says Kerry's people still haven't decided and also are considering St. John Arena.

Is this not the most disorganized campaign we've seen in recent years? Check out this Kerry press release, the lead sentence of which makes it sounds like it's their boy engaging in misleading slogans:

WASHINGTON, Aug. 31 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Following four days of misleading slogans, miscalculations and soundbites designed to hide the real Bush record in New York, John Kerry and John Edwards will kick off the general election Friday with a real plan for America, a formidable sign of campaign strength and impressive grassroots support as they join their wives in barnstorming battleground states Labor Day weekend. ...

Following the midnight rally, Kerry, Edwards and their wives will split up for four separate tours Friday and Saturday, and Front Porch visits on Monday. Kerry's Friday and Saturday bus tour will take him through the Ohio cities of Newark, Akron and Steubenville. Edwards will hold a similar bus tour through Wisconsin. Teresa Heinz Kerry will tour through Iowa, while Elizabeth Edwards tours Michigan. go here for entire hilarious press release.

Since he's coming to Steubenville, maybe he could have
his picture taken with Dean Martin.

Steubenville, birth place of Dean Martin.

That one is for Lcpl. Jim McClain of Stuebenville Ohio.

A poem written by him Chu Lai RVN 1966.

"I know", She said.
"I know" , He said.
Together they said,"WE KNOW."

And I said, "Don't tell me, I'm not here.
I'm in VIET NAM BABY!"

Hope you're doing well Jimmy.
Remember the time Brown came to the hooch and
we got ripped til lights out, then he waited till we
were all in the racks half asleep and threw a brick
up on the tin roof? If I could have caught him I'd have
killed him.

I remember you couldn't wait to get back to Steubenville,
hope you made a life for youself there.

t.

Sounds like Northwest Indiana. But even with all of that, it couldn`t be worse then East Chicago. The Rat mayor is under investigation for using casino tax money to buy votes by replacing private property sidewalks, driveways and patios, for starters.

Every picture is worse than the one before. Notice the grimace, the idiotic goggles, the leather gloves, his girlieman shorts, the rest of his outfit. The fact that he's cavorting about off Nantucket and plans to spend tomorrow night or the next at the family home in Pa., the list of things he does that grate on the country's ear just keeps growing. How many Americans have six mansions scattered all over the place? The fact that he stalked his present wife while flirting with bankruptcy in order to gain entree to all those mansions is a relevant criticism...the man's character is just plain bad. But the Swift Boats Vets' testimony is the last nail in that particular coffin. What can you possibly say about this man that recommends him for the Presidency? Nothing.

From this morning's local paper:

Jefferson County Democratic Party Chairman John Abdalla received confirmation Tuesday from the Kerry-Edwards campaign that Democratic presidential nominee U.S. Sen. John Kerry will visit Steubenville on Saturday.

"I just had all the Kerry people with me today," Abdalla said Tuesday afternoon.
As for where the presidential hopeful will appear, Abdalla said, "It's definitely 'The Fort.'"

"The Fort" is how people in the area refer to as the Fort Steuben Visitor's Center, located on Third Street across from the police station, Abdalla said.

He could not be specific on the exact time Kerry will appear, saying only, "They said to me between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. - I have no set time."

Jerry Barilla, a member of the Fort Steuben board, said permission was granted for the Kerry event. He noted the people coming to see and hear Kerry will be in the larger area of the historical site known as Fort Steuben Park, which includes the visitor's center.

"The visitor's center is going to be used as logistics for the Secret Service," Barilla said. He added that on Tuesday, Kerry's advance team staff was looking at logistics of the site.

"The Secret Service is supposed to come in today," he added.

Barilla said the Kerry advance team liked the site because of its historical significance.

Abdalla said tickets, which are free, will be required to gain admittance to the event.

Tickets may be picked up starting Thursday at either the Jefferson County Democratic Party Headquarters, 138 N. Fourth St., Steubenville, or at Abdalla's Restaurant, Ohio 7, Stratton, Ohio.

Abdalla said the party headquarters will be open from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. and the restaurant from 9 a.m. to midnight.

The tickets could be available later this afternoon, but Abdalla said he wasn't sure about that. He note that as of Tuesday afternoon, the party headquarter's phone line had not yet been connected.

No identification will be required to obtain tickets, Abdalla said.

"Just tell me your name and sign in and then take them," Abdalla said.

Abdalla said there would likely be a limit on the number of tickets available to each inidividual, but he did not know what that limit would be. As for how many people would be allowed into the event Abdalla said, "They'll probably put in 10,000 to 11,000."

The event will be held rain or shine, so Abdalla said he'll be appealing to a higher power for good weather on Saturday.

"I have a phone call directly to St. Peter to give me nice weather," Abdalla said. "He's never let me down."

Meanwhile, a veteran who served with Kerry in Vietnam will spend two days speaking to veterans across the Mountain State. Jim Rassmann is scheduled to visit Wheeling on Thursday. He will be joined by Medal of Honor recipient and West Virginia Veterans for Kerry-Edwards Chairman Woody Williams and West Virginia Veterans for Kerry-Edwards Co-Chairman Don Kinnard.

Rassmann, Williams and Kinnard are expected to meet with local veterans at 4 p.m. at American Legion Post 1, located at 2401 Oak St., Wheeling.

One correction - my father (Bob Hickle) isn't a triple threat... :) He is most definately NOT a catholic!!!! He is Methodist... But I appreciate everyone's most positive reaction to his decision. Unfortunately, the local Unions, who make up a good deal of his business at the SPORTING CLAY range (LOL- the trap field isn't even in yet) will likely not be as supportive as they have over the past year. I would invite you all to visit his website http://www.islandcreeksc.com or even e-mail him in support (you can find his e-mail address on the About the Owner section of the website) Also - we are looking for lots of local support for an event we are having September 25th - The Freedom Alliance Scholarship Shoot - to benefit the children of servicemembers killed in the line of duty. The page about the Shoot is http://www.islandcreeksc.com/events.htm

Thanks so much for this great thread - it has lifted my heart.

Respectfully,
Jennifer Barnett

Maybe the union muckety-mucks won't be as supportive, but I would lay bets that the rank and file will be supportive, or neutral at worst.

I know several union men who grudgingly vote Democratic based on who's going to best keep their rice bowl filled-- but who, culturally speaking, would otherwise be strong Republicans. I am sure they exist up there too.
