Kerry Coming Back to Ohio Valley; Steubenville union guy says don't use me as political prop
Wheeling (WV) Intellgencer ^ | Aug. 31, 2004 | Ryan Miller

STEUBENVILLE - Sen. John Kerry, the Democratic presidential nominee, has once again made arrangements to visit Steubenville.

Kerry had originally planned a stop Aug. 20, but he canceled the visit because of reported scheduling conflicts. That visit has been rescheduled, according to John Abdalla, head of the Jefferson County Democratic Party, who said he had spoken with members of Kerry's campaign about the visit.

Abdalla and Dan Trevas, communications director for the Ohio Democratic Party, said Kerry will make an appearance at the Fort Steuben Visitor's Center on Third Street between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday. Abdalla also said Kerry's campaign members have indicated the presidential hopeful would like to be able to trap shoot in the area if his schedule allows.

"I know he's an avid sportsman. I'd heard last time he was looking for shooting opportunities," said Trevas.

Bob Hickle, owner of the Island Creek Sporting Clay business on Jefferson County Road 56, said he was contacted two weeks ago by local Democratic representatives to see whether Kerry would be able to trap shoot there.

"I told them 'Oh no,'" Hickle said.

Hickle said the representatives indicated Kerry wanted to shoot and use the event as a photo and campaign opportunity. Hickle said the Democratic representatives thought he would be supportive of Kerry's campaign since he is a pipefitter, union laborer and a Vietnam veteran. But Hickle said he does not support Kerry.

"I told them he (Kerry) could come and shoot, but he couldn't use it as a campaign vehicle," he said.

Kerry has been campaigning at various sites around the area including Wheeling, Pittsburgh and Youngstown.

"We're just delighted to have him back in the state," Trevas said. "I think it just shows the importance of Eastern Ohio in this election. Eastern Ohioans have put their lives into their jobs and are seeing little in return under the Bush administration."

Previously, Kerry was supposed to visit Follansbee, WV - then he wasn't

Then he was supposed to visit Steubenville to trap shoot - then he wasn't (as described in this FR thread).

When he visited Wheeling, WV, on July 31, he was greeted by about 50 of us protesters. Support for him in the Upper Ohio Valley is tepid - the union guys are bused in to wave the signs at rallies, but most just say they're pro-Kerry because they're Democrats and they feel obligated.

This is such a desparate act. It's screams of "I got balls, I shoot guns, I'm not a liberal wuss."

But of course he is a liberal wuss.

Yeah, this was probably a set up for Kerry to shoot himself on this guy's property and then Edwards files the lawsuit.

"I think it just shows the importance of Eastern Ohio in this election. Eastern Ohioans have put their lives into their jobs and are seeing little in return under the Bush administration."

Northeast Ohio has been a sh*$%hole for years. Coincidentally, democrats have had a stranglehold on local and regional politics for years. Correlation anyone? When I lived there, our local water works was busted for casing housed they worked on, and then robbed them later. These were all city employees. Then our congressman (Traficant) got sent to prison for racketeering and 15% of the people still voted for him. When I was growing up, I was buddies with the long-time mayor's son. His dad was a porn freak, and his son later turned into a criminal. People wonder why I'm a conservative if I grew up in Youngstown, the only thing I can say is "Because I grew up in Youngstown, idiot!"

Kerry can shoot his shotgun at clay pigeons (wonder how much that cost - as much as his bicycle?), then get elected and work to take away our guns. Makes sense to me! (not)

Antidote to seeing Kerry's scrawny windsurfing pose:

BTW, I'm female, too. Maybe we can use the pix of Kerry in swimtrunks as a diet plan - one look and you lose your appetite for days.

"...wonder how much that cost - as much as his bicycle?"

Oh come one now, his 'bicycle' is an $8,000 Serrato. You don't think he'd use a shotgun any of us peasants could afford (with a Bank Loan) do you? Heck no!

Seriously, from the pictures published, his shotgun looks like a custom made - English - Holland & Holland, which goes from about $20,0000 to $35,000!
(I say that because of the scroll work on it)

It's great that gun owners and hunters are beginning to discover the TRUTH about John Fraud Kerry on those issues. Here's some addition info:

Then, of course they would blame GW and the VRWC for being pro second amendment.

Did you go see Bush Sunday? I was there, got to shake hands, and got many ggod pictures that I need to get developed. There was about 10000 people in the Civic Center. Great speech, and great crowd.

Thanks for the pic and you have a great idea there.

Lurch in his trunks could probably give Cortislim or Trimspa a run for their money any day. And it would be much cheaper!

Only 20 to 50K??? When we strolled through Holland and Holland in 1994 the weapons we saw were priced higher than that!! We almost choked!!!
